Job Description

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through formal education and/or work-related experience to perform quantitative and qualitative financial analysis of foreign and domestic corporations and financial institutions, assign risk ratings, and recommend appropriate exposure limits. Perform various risk analysis to monitor and ensure compliance with established exposure limits across all business segments. Prepare and distribute risk reports and assist in their design. Conduct various credit risk analysis to ensure compliance with established exposure limits. Works independently on difficult assignments that are broad in scope and complex in nature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs detailed financial analysis and prepares credit assessments of domestic and foreign institutional and streetside trading counterparts.

  • Assigns risk ratings to counterparts and proposes appropriate trading limits based on the quantitative and qualitative analyses performed, proposed trading activity, capital levels, and trading strategies.

  • Coordinates efforts between Risk Management and the Business Units on the resolutions of exception/exposure items and prepares responses on senior management inquiries.

  • Provides analysis and commentary regarding significant credit exposure, trading activity, and concentration issues.

  • Prepare industry overviews and outlook.

  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly credit risk reports. This includes collecting and reviewing data for accuracy and providing commentary on credit exposures.

  • Assists in the design, development, and testing of Credit Risk Reports.

  • Maintains Credit files and ensures all supporting credit documentation, legal and trading agreement, risk ratings, and trading limits are captured appropriately in all credit systems.

  • Provides comprehensive and efficient solutions to complex risk measurement and reporting needs.

  • Assures data integrity for market data, scenario generation, static data/security master, and portfolio mapping.

  • Analyzes business processes, procedures, and information requirements to resolve problems and improve the efficiency of the team.

  • Calculates risk using industry standard methods such as value-at-risk, potential future exposures, and stress testing.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic knowledge of principals of accounting

  • Knowledgeable of financial products

  • General understanding of credit and financial analysis

  • General concepts of capital markets (fixed income, equities, and derivatives)

Skill in:

  • Financial statement analysis.

  • Data analysis.

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity.

  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Advanced Excel skills

Ability to:

  • Conduct research to assess probability and severity of risk.

  • Conduct statistical analysis to evaluate risk.

  • Analyze, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Interpret, analyze and apply information.

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, procedures, and techniques.

  • Develop strong working relationships with business partners.

  • Attend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of one (1) year relevant business experience in financial services.

or

  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience approved by Human Resources.
