The Opportunity

As a Product Development Executive, you will be accountable for providing executive oversight and leadership in the development of new product solutions into a member-led and member-centric design considering the entire value chain. Develops next generation products that leverage new technology and data sources to create products and services that serve member needs for protection products at the appropriate price. Focuses on developing new product as well as an effective operating model to deliver on product needs. Accountable for leveraging and refining rapid prototyping as well as a design led approach to creating improved user experiences and new capabilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Directs the development and design of new products, services, capabilities, and sources of P&L.

  • Provides executive thought leadership and leads the product design and development function for products.

  • Accountable for ensuring significant market differentiation, consistent with USAA strategy is achieved.

  • Partners with and influence Digital, IT, Data, Design, Experience, Innovation and P&L Business Leaders.

  • Serves as a thought leader, inspiring a high-performance team to achieve exceptional results while building future capability and developing next generation leaders.

  • Plans and directs product development efforts in areas of new products and services, research, and market analysis.

  • Leverages technology, data, and digital analysis to inform early stage opportunity assessments and the development of a transformative strategy.

  • Works with internal and external partners to analyze potential external partnerships including potential acquisitions to speed time to market.

  • Partners with legal and compliance to optimize company structures, contracts and forms, and new coverage options that consider member needs.

  • Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

  • Accountable for ensuring that the development of product and program solutions is consistent with the intended design and overall strategy.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 10 years of progressive product development or product management experience developing strategies, managing major product initiatives within financial services or property and casualty industry or relevant military experience.

  • 6 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.

  • Direct experience designing a product or applicable product management experience.

  • Demonstrated responsibility driving market differentiation, leading a design led approach, delivering member value, and leveraging market and member insights.

  • Proven experience leading change and driving innovation.

  • Demonstrated understanding of rapid prototyping and experience using a design led approach to create improved and new capabilities.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering Product strategy and transformation.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).

What sets you apart:

  • Experience leading large scale IT implementation efforts leading diverse teams of both product developers and product owners.

  • Experience working with P&C platforms that support the entire insurance lifecycle such as Guidewire, DuckCreek, etc.

  • Personal Lines Property (Homeowners, Landlord, and Renters) Insurance domain experience in Rating and Underwriting Rules

  • Deep knowledge of current industry trends effecting Personal Lines Property Products

  • Product Management Experience at state and national level

What we offer:

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $188,330.00 - 338,990.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
