The Opportunity
As a dedicated Benefits Advisor Senior , you are responsible for the design, implementation, evaluation and ongoing administration of benefit plans, programs, and services to support employee benefits, focused on mental health and well-being programs. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to build innovative strategies that support employees’ psychological well-being and drive engagement. This role requires a deep understanding of employee benefits, mental health resources, and industry best practices to shape a proactive and supportive benefits strategy. Ensures alignment with the total rewards philosophy and HR strategy. Will be responsible for project planning and effective delivery of wellness programs, using tools like Power Point to communicate sophisticated ideas clearly and persuasively.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL .

What you'll do:
Applies advanced knowledge to provide mentorship in the design, development, implementation, administration, and assessment of benefit plans, programs, and services.
Monitors the daily management of programs, regulatory compliance, contract compliance and contracted suppliers.
Proactively identifies and analyzes key issues organizational trends, market data, and industry practices to identify root causes and address benefit issues and determine efficient solutions.
Provides insight and guidance to senior leadership on sophisticated issues.
Manages multiple suppliers and contracts for multifaceted programs with Enterprise wide risks.
Examines objectives for employee benefit programs to ensure program success, alignment with the Total Rewards philosophy and compliance with internal goals and external federal requirements.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of benefit programs against stated objectives by using metrics and best practices and provide appropriate service levels to employees and plan participants.
Evaluates changes to benefits programs and initiatives and makes recommendations for changes.
Monitors the legal and regulatory environment that may impact current and/or future employee benefit offerings.
Recommends changes and enhancements to programs to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
Serves as a mentor to peers and team members and acts as a resource for advanced issues of an unusual nature.
Develops a communication strategy around benefit plans, programs, and services to include open enrollment changes, pricing, plan details, and the various communication resources.
Evaluates the annual benefits budget in partnership with Finance and vendors.
Examines measures to ensure costs are minimized and efficiencies are realized.
Analyzes financial impacts and recommends adjustments to programs to minimize financial exposure.
Leads benefits projects and initiatives with an enterprise wide impact.
Represents Benefits in cross-functional teams.
Coordinates with key stakeholders for the development and implementation of systems and processes which support benefit projects and initiatives.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
6 years of experience in employee and retiree benefit plans, programs and services, to include health & welfare (self & fully insured programs), retirement benefits, plan design, experience in benefits financial analysis, metric development, benefits supplier management, regulatory compliance and day-to-day administration and operations.
Working knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques.
Understanding of outsourced benefits administration and how to provide oversight of outsourced functions and programs.
Experience with documenting processes and identifying required controls; to include recommending and implementing solutions and responding effectively to sensitive inquires and complaints.
Advanced knowledge of defined benefit and defined contribution plans, deferred compensation and Health and Welfare plans.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of federal laws, rules, and regulations to include: ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA.

Experience creating and delivering impactful presentations across all levels of the organization using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $93,770.00 - $179,240.00 .
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
