The Opportunity

As a dedicated Business Strategy and Planning Director , you will work on the Enterprise Integrated Planning team in USAA’s Chief Financial Office and support senior executives in enhancing USAA’s Operational planning process. The candidate selected for this role will lead critical workstreams focused on implementing enhancements to the process and work with cross-functional teams and senior executives to shape the new multiple-year Operational Plan for Board approval in November.

This is a high-visibility role in a fast pace environment and the candidate selected will work with executives across Enterprise Planning, Forecasting, and Analysis (EPF&A), Enterprise Strategy, Enterprise Risk, Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), Senior Financial Officers, Technology, and key business teams as part of our normal routines in executing the EIP process. They will own and drive the Operational Planning process and be responsible for coordination, aggregation, and authoring of the new Operational Plan in partnership with leadership.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: Charlotte, NC or San Antonio, TX.

What you'll do:

  • Drives the development and coordination of components within the overarching CoSA strategy.

  • Works with executive management to establish strategic and operational framework that establishes enables short and long-term business goals and key results.

  • Develops specific processes to manage the business strategic and operational planning process.

  • Drives the alignment of business process and frameworks to enterprise strategy, process and framework.

  • Partners with senior-level leaders across functions and channels to develop near- and long-term visions and roadmaps and works with business leaders to manage transition from strategy to execution.

  • Maintains responsibility of integration of change management plans, project documentation and strategies for large, complex business specific initiatives that often impact the organization and/or enterprise.

  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses to evaluate operational effectiveness by establishing best practices and management routines to address gaps.

  • Guides team members as they perform research and analysis.

  • Supports CoSA executive leadership by leading the design, coordination, and governance of the annual strategic planning and operational planning processes.

  • Leads and motivates cross-functional team members in strategy and operational plan development and implementation.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 years of directly related business planning consultation experience to include developing business strategy for short-term and/or long-term goals.

  • Experience influencing and managing communication to senior executives, internal colleagues through concise, official and regular updates on status, progress, strategies and roadmaps

  • Extensive experience in Project Management.

  • Strong business acumen in financial services or related industry, and a proven ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation skills.

  • Experience working with clients/customers to realize business issues and develop a strategy for the business’s direction from the gathered insights.

What sets you apart:

  • Prior consulting experience and/or 2+ years of corporate/business strategy and planning experience with a major consulting firm

  • 2+ years of experience developing a multi-year corporate or business Operational Plan at USAA or a Fortune 100 financial services firm

  • Prior corporate or business Finance experience and/or an understanding of the financial forecast process and business case development

  • Demonstrated ability working collaboratively and establishing strong relationships across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, matrixed, and ever-changing environment

  • Extensive experience in developing grey-space concepts into solution recommendations, gaining stakeholder alignment and producing high quality C-Suite/Board ready presentations for decision making

  • Strong facilitation, project management, and communication (verbal /written) skills and experience

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $109,130 - $208,580.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
