Hyatt Regency San Antonio is seeking an Event Sales Manager to join our exciting and fun events team. The Hyatt Regency consists of 630 guest rooms and 29,000 square feet of event space. We are seeking a motivated and creative new leader to take advantage of unique opportunities to impress and delight our future groups within the local market. The Event Sales manager is responsible for capturing local catering business (corporate events, weddings, galas, fundraisers) while maximizing banquet space to meet and exceed sales goals. Primary sales efforts are in banquet food, beverage and room rental to include but not limited to: conducting hotel tours, tastings, menu planning, agenda setting, selling and servicing and setting hotel meeting services up for success. Duties also include contract review and facilitating communication before, during and post event with pertinent hotel staff and clients to ensure a high level of service. The Event Sales Manager will be primarily selling events with limited servicing also required based on the type of business and business levels. The Event Sales Manager works directly with an Event Coordinator in guiding groups through the planning and execution process, while maintaining a presence as the face of all events. This is not a remote position and hotel presence is required.

Qualifications:

Qualifications -

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of hotel event sales/event planning

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3 years of hotel and/or food & beverage experience preferred

  • Knowledge of the San Antonio social and local events market

  • Experience with vendors and leveraging business relationships to drive new business and enhanced offerings for clients

  • Participation in local networking organizations that help drive new business

  • Must be experienced in general computer knowledge and programs; heavy usage of Hyatt sales systems and Microsoft products

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in creative development of marketing concepts, custom proposals and promotional events to increase local event sales

  • Understanding of negotiation and interpretation of contracts

  • Maintain price integrity in food and beverage

  • Responsible for increasing overall revenue per attendee by upselling techniques, value added offerings and other creative methods

  • Experience in data analytics to drive sales success

  • Manage retention, reactivation and acquisition accounts to capture future business

  • Adhere to prospecting standards and goals

  • Present a professional business appearance and confidence

  • Extremely detail oriented, organized and able to handle a fast paced environment

  • Strong time management & multi-tasking skills with the ability to work well under pressure

  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to exceed standards and expectations

  • Experience in training and guiding a team through the events sales, planning and execution process

  • Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel; banquets, setup, audio visual, finance, guest services, reservations, housekeeping, restaurants and engineering

  • Knowledge of meeting room set-ups and capabilities

  • Knowledge of sleeping room configurations and types

  • Manage meeting space and adjust in order to ensure maximum potential revenue

  • Engage with meeting planners, outside vendors on set-up details and needs for events

  • Relay accurate event forecast information for rolling forecasts

  • Timely follow up with internal and external clients
