About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide technical manufacturing support related to the production of Caterpillar Diesel Engines. Manufacturing Specialists report to the Operations Supervisor and will be assigned to departments within the business to meet customer and company demands. Work is performed in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment. Work requires possible exposure to all temperature changes, high noise levels, working around moving equipment, electrical hazards, tanks, heights, fumes, chemicals, vibrations, dust, etc.

What you will do:

  • Disburse all parts remove/signed out form

  • Maintain machining processes to specifications. Perform process testing to ensure quality control of practices and procedures

  • Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations

  • Read and interpret blueprints, (CMM reports), csv files, engineering drawings and schematic diagrams

  • Maintain records related to inventory, quality, defective parts, and defective equipment

  • Submit and assist with the resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards

  • Provide information to supervisors and managers about processes within assigned area

  • Any other tasks assigned by MRO Supervisor

What you will have:

  • Minimum of 4 months' experience in a machining, manufacturing, or warehouse environment or industry certification

  • Ability to work well with others

  • Proficiency in working with hand tools

  • Familiarity with mechanical products and components

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English

  • Attention-to-detail and ability to identify non-conforming parts and investigate quality defects

  • Previousexperience reading and interpreting part prints, schematics, and/or blueprints

  • General knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint

  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work

  • Ability to adhere to safety procedures

What would make you a top candidate: * *

  • Experience using scanners and inventory system software for parts management

  • Previous experience and/or training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Software

  • Previous experience setting up and troubleshooting Heller and/or Toyoda machining cells

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Additional Information:

  • $19.00/hour starting payrate; 3rd Shift will receive a Shift Premium of 7%

  • Sunday - Thursday, 10:30pm - 6:00am

Summary Pay Range:

$19.00 - $24.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
