USAA – a premier, mission-led organization – is introducing a unique full-time leadership opportunity and development program focused on empowering USAA’s mission to be the provider of choice for the military community. This program will provide broadened development with a strong emphasis on learning about financial services operations. Candidates will leverage their military leadership experience to enhance leader acumen and advise on member growth strategies through a monthly Leadership Exchange and other unique opportunities. Participants will receive rich financial services exposure, cross-functional sprints, coaching and mentorship opportunities and corporate leadership skills enhancement, while concurrently leading and driving value in a key business line. The corporate exposure portion of the program will include in-depth experiences in multiple enterprise divisions and can range across: Property and Casualty, Banking, Life Company, Risk & Compliance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Strategy/Digital/Brand, Finance, Legal, Audit, and others. This program will run in two-year cohorts during which program participants may competitively pursue advancement opportunities.

In this role on the Property and Casualty team, you will influence business leaders with thoughtful analytics to drive business strategies and outcomes. Your influence will impact the full portfolio of P&C products offered across the USAA’s insurance company.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This cohort will be based in San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance will be set and provided by USAA.

The Opportunity

What you’ll do:

  • Champion business performance of products and/or experiences and their financial impact on the business.

  • Drive accountability and guide and support the development of strategies to determine roadmaps for business deliverable-need outcomes.

  • Prioritize changes based on changing business conditions, business value and benefit, strategic alignment, capacity, and resource availability.

  • Drive creativity and ingenuity in the search and application of new product development solutions.

  • Develop strategic vision and tactical plans that will profitably expand USAA product line market share.

  • Gather data, competitive intelligence, and member information to support formulation of product strategy.

  • Lead program initiatives and collaborate with business leaders.

  • Participate in structured career development, receive coaching and mentoring, and on-the-job training to create opportunities for career advancement.

  • Complete assignments and/or lead a team in specific domain areas, or product lines, within Bank, Life Company, P&C or staff agencies as specified by your hiring line of business.

  • Participate in business learning and networking opportunities across enterprise.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and achieve difficult goals, with a proven record of success throughout military career.

  • 8 or more years of experience in risk management, compliance, operations, internal auditing, advanced analytics, and/or strategy development.

  • Direct people leadership experience building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and ability to learn and navigate various technology platforms.

  • High learning agility, and results oriented with attention to detail and effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Proven experience in identifying issues and trends and making recommendations to solve problems and be accountable for actions.

  • Ability to adapt and pivot quickly with a commitment to growth and development; eagerness to learn the business and master new roles.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and build trusted relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders.

What sets you apart:

  • Military Officers O-1 to O-4 with significant levels of leadership responsibility and top peer rankings during military service.

  • 4 or more years of experience in business post-military.

  • Master’s Degree and/or Military Service Academy degree.

  • Consulting background and experience working at a top tier consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.), OR other consulting firm, preferably in the Banking or Financial Services industry.

  • Experience defining questions and providing insights to improve business performance.

  • Previous experience maintaining existing products Previous experience leading the development and launch of new products.

  • Industry experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Distribution, Sales and Service, Finance and Accounting Operations and/or Financial Services.

  • Product management, or similar strategic management experience (similar experience includes direct support in managing product performance).

  • Data Visualization experience (i.e. Tableau).

  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (i.e. FDIC, CFPB, OCC).

  • Experience Owning, Forecasting, and Managing a Product P&L

  • Strong quantitative skills and experience assimilating complex analytics into actionable results.

What we offer:

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $124,280 - $223,700.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
