Lockheed Martin Aircraft Field Support Engineer Sr, F-35 Program (MCAS Miramar, CA) in San Diego, California

Join our Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment team as an Aircraft Field Support Engineer on our Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) team! This position will support the F-35 aircraft program at MCAS Mirimar. The successful candidate will act as part of the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics technical interface to the on-site customer (Operations and Maintenance) in resolving issues arising from maintenance or modification activities for all matters dealing with the F-35 aircraft. The preferred candidate will be either a Vehicle System (VS), Mission Systems (MS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) or be an emerging authority who has the skill set to accomplish troubleshooting and analysis of APG/Vehicle Systems or AVS/Mission Systems, or Supportable Low Observable (SLO).

Responsibilities include:

• Accomplish troubleshooting and analysis of difficulties experienced in the field.

• Attend debriefings, to aid in the rapid identification of emerging issues that require company intervention to avoid aircraft downtime.

• Document all unusual operational / maintenance problems to ensure the company is apprised of and can identify emerging failure trends.

• Initiate Action Requests (ARs). Identifying unique operational problems that require technical, procedural, or quality assurance actions to resolve. Provide on-site assistance to company and Customer personnel initiating ARs.

• Will work with and interact with the maintainer as well as the professional engineers from other F-35 companies as a peer.

• Applicant must be able to work and communicate well both orally and written in a team environment as this position involves significant and continued interface with customer personnel at all levels.

• Provide support for the assigned site on aircraft ground maintenance and operational limitations.

• Direct on-site support as requested by customer, site manager or program management. Lead and track multiple engineering and provide periodic status to Customer and Program Management.

• Some travel required; candidates must be willing and able to deploy with Customer personnel to the Continental United States (CONUS), Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) and hazardous duty locations. Long term deployments may be required. US Department of Defense (DoD) mandated vaccinations may be required.

• Must be able to obtain F-35 Special Program Access. Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance. Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that will require special access.

Basic Qualifications:

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

• Minimum of 4 years 5th Generation Fighter Aircraft experience (F-22 or F-35) with Avionics/Mission Systems (MS), Supportable Low Observable, or (SLO)/structures, Vehicle System/APG (VS)

• Final Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the other candidates:

• Previous Field Service Engineer (FSE) experience

• Avionics/MS Experience

• APG/ VS Experience

• Fault isolation and problem analysis experience at the

sub-system level.

• Technical Report writing

• Experience with drawing/schematics reading and interpretation

• Experience with engineering tools to include, but not limited to PDM, VAS, JEDI, JARVIS, CRE and VAST/Vision.

• Airframe & Power plant (A&P) license

• Knowledge of CATIA & System/Software Engineering Environment (S/SEE)

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Non- standard 40 hour work week as assigned by leader

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $74,700 - $143,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $85,900 - $161,900. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
