The Opportunity
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
The Director of PMO Excellence will lead efforts to educate, implement, and advance PMO Excellence principles and practices across the Infectious Diseases BU global PMO organization. This role requires extensive internal and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-impact, sustainable business results. The Director will foster a culture of continuous improvement within a fast-paced working environment.
What You’ll Work On
Strategic Leadership: Serve on the PMO Senior Leadership Team and act as a partner to Global R&D Excellence framework and initiatives.
Implementation: Create comprehensive training materials including Visual Program Management (VPM). Organize “trainer the trainer” programs and oversee the rollout of training modules. Facilitate major program timeline builds and provide support to project teams as they implement.
Portfolio Management: Establish and maintain robust resource-driven rationalized roadmap to drive prioritization, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Standard Work: Lead creation of standard work to support holistic program management best practices; optimize methods of executive leadership review of full suite of diverse NPI programs
Project Leadership: Identify key projects, teams, and champions to implement modules. Enhance problem-solving capabilities within the greater business unit and foster a culture of on-time delivery.
Transform culture: Drive transformational change by engaging personnel in the use of PMO and R&D Excellence tools and methodologies, utilizing change management strategies.
Performance Metrics: Conduct benchmarking and identify key performance indicators to measure the success of NPI programs, and pinpoint improvement opportunities.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, embedding the Excellence mindset and fostering a culture of critical thinking and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree (± 18 years) Medical Devices, Diagnostics, or related field
Minimum of 15 years of experience in;
Ability to translate strategies into practical goals.
Practical knowledge of modern operational excellence tools and programs such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Toyota Production Systems, Danaher Business Systems, and similar methodologies.
Advanced degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
Proven experience in leadership roles, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
Strong knowledge of Excellence principles and methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Minimum 10 years of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate Degree (± 19 years) Medical Devices, Diagnostics, or related field
LSS Black Belt certification preferred; PMP certification is a plus.
Experience with change management and continuous improvement initiatives preferred.

The base pay for this position is $169,300.00 – $338,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
