This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. Under close supervision, this intern role will assist with a wide variety of task and activities supporting the Supplier Diversity Program at California American Water. _ *Overview_ Interns will require a commitment of three or more days a week on a flexible schedule. Preference will be given to candidates who are interested in a long-term internship period (six months). Must be a junior or senior student enrolled in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline undergraduate or graduate degree program. _ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to_ * Support California American Water’s supplier diversity strategy as directed. * Assess various supplier diversity spend opportunities based on business needs. * Assist with outbound calls to diverse and non-diverse vendors for various information (follow-up on tier two reports, new vendor calls, DVBE calls, request for capabilities statement for new / potential vendors, etc.). * Participation in all supplier diversity-related meetings. * Use of Supplier Clearinghouse Website to confirm vendor certification. * Ongoing communication with vendors when they request help with certification, registration, Taulia, etc. * Follow up with vendors regarding their expiration. * Assist with reporting – data gathering and tracking of supplier diversity spend (internal and California Public Utilities Commission). _ Qualifications_ * Strong Excel skills, including knowledge of basic functions, formulas, and macros. * General computer literacy and aptitude for analytical problem-solving skills. * Professional, responsible, detail-oriented, and highly organized with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environment. * Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to deliver multiple assignments in parallel. * Able to work collaboratively in a team setting and independently. * Punctual, reliable, and highly dependable. * Must be flexible with a strong willingness to learn. * Receptive to feedback with a positive attitude. _ Competencies_ Champions safety Customer obsessed Cultivates innovation Nimble learning Drives Results Collaborates * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
