How will you make an impact in this role?

The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

Compliance Risk Management Governance (CRMG) within GRC facilitates and monitors the implementation of effective compliance risk management programs throughout the organization, and oversees risk ownership throughout business units, products, and processes. The objective of CRMG is to develop, oversee and strengthen the organization’s Compliance Risk Management framework to ensure that governance structures, policies, and procedures are robust, effective, and align with regulatory requirements and best practices.

CRMG is looking for an Analyst who will support the Compliance Governance and Oversight team. The Analyst will be responsible for communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including Compliance Officers, Control Management (CM), Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The ideal candidate will possess strong data analytical skills, risk and control management and a general regulatory governance knowledge.

Key R esponsibilities

  • Support the oversight of compliance risks across business lines, ensuring that potential or emerging risks are appropriately escalated and addressed in the appropriate risk management program.

  • Collaborate with Compliance Officers and other risk management groups to document the potential or emerging risks being raised through the various programs. The Analyst will be responsible to analyze, challenge, organize the documentation.

  • Collaborate with various risk teams to ensure governance practices align with enterprise risk management frameworks.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to enhance governance processes and improve risk management practices.

  • Monitor progress against program deadlines; managing several tasks simultaneously.

  • Update program resource materials including procedures, desktop procedures, and program Square sites.

  • Assist with creating reports and dashboards for committee reporting, providing data analysis, effective challenge and trends for leadership review and discussion.

  • Provide support for strategic initiatives and ad hoc projects, including responses to stakeholders, audit and regulator requests.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in compliance, operational risk management, issue management, or regulatory affairs within a financial institution.

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, compliance risk frameworks, and corporate governance principles.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence diverse levels of stakeholders.

  • Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and / or risk management standards.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.

  • Excellent writing skills and ability to synthesize key messages for diverse audiences.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, law, business, or a related field, advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) are a plus.

  • Risk management and/or regulatory experience with a primary focus on regulatory compliance, or related experience within the financial industry or related regulated fields.

  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of management.

  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
