Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products (BCP) division is hiring a Senior Product Consultant for Skid Steer Loaders (SSL) and Compact Track Loaders (CTL). This role will support the Current Product and New Product Activities by working through the four P’s of marketing: Product, Pricing, Place and Promotion. This role is highly collaborative, working alongside the industry team, machine product groups, internal and external partners to achieve the business plan, develop new solutions and improve efficiency in key business measurables.
Job Duties:
The primary goal is to grow customer base using SSL|CTL products and services.
This will be accomplished through several means, not limited to:
Communicating a vision for the future to make Cat SSL|CTL preferred solution for job site needs.
Conduct sales forecast
Develop Multi-Generational Product Plans
Lead Commercial development of New Product, New Technology and New Market Introductions for SSL|CTL (NPI, NTI, NMI)
Conduct SSL|CTL product training
Develop expertise; create, strengthen, grow relationships/processes with business partners to execute the SSL|CTL business
Consult with product groups, districts, and dealers to develop and implement customer solutions
Guide revenue management decisions
Merchandising support
Support sales efforts initiated by districts as well as having input on overall sales support programs
Create advocacy and preference with construction industry who purchases and uses Caterpillar product, and
Create marketing messages
Represent BCP on sales issues relating to the SSL|CTL markets
Conduct competitive analysis
Act as a product and commercial support resource
Role Summary: A key component to the position is gathering Voice of Customer (VOC), Voice of Dealer (VOD) and Voice of Industry (VOI) to provide training, messaging through videos, publications and our digital platforms to increase awareness, traffic, leads and sales. The role will be expected to analyze problems and opportunities, present results, proactively share and execute ideas towards implementing solutions.
Additional Details: While this role requires onsite work in Sanford, NC, the scope of this job is regional for sales support function, global for the go to market content and global for commercial product strategy. Travel is expected between 25 - 35% with support of dealer training, trade shows, productivity studies, dealer meetings, and customer opportunities. Opportunities for international collaboration exist as well. Caterpillar operates in a hybrid environment, requiring onsite work weekly while retaining flexibility in working from home.
What You Have (Skills and Experience) :
Progressive or combined experience in Industry Sales, Product Marketing, Engineering or Commercial related field
Experience in Project Management or Product Development
Advanced proficiency using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Effective communicator including strong writing and verbal communication skills
Relationship building and value selling skills
Product and service knowledge
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Strong customer focus and adaptability
Organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Prior experience within the construction industry or construction technologies
Prior Dealer or Customer facing experience
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing or a Technical Field such as Engineering, or equivalent through sales experience
