As the Complaint Investigation Technician, you will:

  • Receive complaint product returns, verify accuracy of return to the complaint handling system, conduct product functionality and visual inspection testing and investigate customer complaints related to product quality issues and concerns.

  • Coordinates complaint data compilation and reports investigation results to Complaint Handling and/or Failure Investigation Group

  • Initiates failure investigations to Engineering, Technical Services, Distribution, Chemistry, Manufacturing, Secondary Packaging, Ireland and Supplier Quality Engineering for further evaluation and/or complaint investigation analyses.

  • Collaborates with Global business partners to ensure product return processes are followed, product evaluation standards are aligned and Equipment Calibration is maintained

  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and overall business

  • Participates in related projects assigned by management e.g. CHS Requirements, Metrics, Change Requests, SOP updates

  • Support product failure investigation, failure investigation team, summary report and review of health hazard evaluation.

  • Review Device History Records (DHRs) associated with the manufacture of the product.

  • Partner on investigations with business partners and technical teams/subject matter experts to ensure sound experimental design, effective data analysis, identification, implementation, verification and validation of corrective and preventative action, and subsequent closure of investigations.

  • Assist to identify corrective and preventative actions based on root cause failure investigations.

  • Assess and analyze customer complaints for potential regulatory reporting, based on product specific criteria.

  • Perform daily review of complaints and notify original equipment manufacturers vendors as appropriate.

  • Perform assessment of adverse events and assess the need for immediate corrective action.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the manufacturing industry

  • Laboratory Testing/Investigation Experience for Medical Devices is required.

  • Experience in surgical medical devices preferred

  • Experience in inspection of medical devices related to Intra-Ocular Lenses and associated is preferred

  • Prior experience with SAP is preferred.

  • Complaint Handling Evaluation and System data entry, a plus

  • Ability to work independently is required

  • Work-flow prioritization is required

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time is required.
