We’re looking for a highly motivated person who is passionate about softgoods design and applying this knowledge to the field of medical robotics. You’ll be part of a fast-paced environment within a multi-disciplinary engineering team which is focused on quantitative results and delivery of a system that exceeds expectations of the customer. You will lead projects, communicate within and across teams, and demonstrate and share your sophisticated softgoods mechanical engineering knowledge to drive projects to completion. In addition to team collaboration, you'll also actively work on results-oriented individual projects within medical robotics.

Core Job Responsibilities:

•As a member of the Mechanical Engineering R&D team, you will contribute to the development of a suite of surgical capital equipment by focusing on softgoods design and manufacturing for patient and physician support surfaces.

•Design CAD models, create drawings, and collaborate with vendors to produce prototype and production parts.

•Perform engineering analyses and relevant physical testing on softgoods designs.

•Collaborate with Industrial Design and Clinical teams to create designs which are both visually appealing and highly functional.

•Provide hands-on, troubleshooting, process and manufacturing assistance in support of a rapid development cycle.

•Create design solutions which utilize engineering methods with good documentation processes, and be able to release design documentation through an ECO process.

•Ability and willingness to work through all phases of product development from conceptualization to mass production.

•Must be capable of working independently and in a team, while being flexible, self-motivated, curious and willing to redefine the world of medical robotics.


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

•BS Mechanical Engineering or similar required, MS Mechanical Engineering preferred.

•At minimum of 1 year related experience

•Strong understanding of human anatomy, ergonomics, and mechanisms of pressure ulcerations.

•Knowledge and experience in working with materials such as foams, coverings, support structures, and attachment mechanisms.

•Experience in thinking outside of the box in order to identify and test new materials and construction methods.

•Willingness to travel to vendor sites for evaluation and prototyping.

•Experience designing for manufacturability and solid understanding of common softgoods manufacturing processes: foam manufacturing, stitching, machining, laminating, gluing, injection molding.

•Knowledge of burn testing and certification processes for consumer mattresses.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

•Basic conversational skills in Spanish is preferred.

•Experience in medical capital equipment.

•Experience working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment.
