Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Operations Strategy, the Operations Strategy Lead will oversee the Strategy Deployment System that supports Operations within the Global End-to-End Supply Chain. This role is responsible for the execution of Strategic Network Projects and Programs aligned with long-term business objectives.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Global Operations to effectively implement the strategy, ensuring that goals, objectives, and metrics are cascaded and managed at all levels within the organization.
Under the guidance of the Director of Operations Strategy, the Operations Strategy Lead will manage all aspects of Cost Optimization initiatives. This includes utilizing Flawless Project Execution (FPx), conducting root cause analysis, and resolving problems with Six Sigma tools. The individual will tackle complex or novel assignments that require innovative approaches and achieve breakthrough results through Process Excellence and the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence
Drive Operational Excellence and Johnson & Johnson Operation Systems (JJOS) best methods.
Drive continuous improvement global and site initiatives that improve safety, improve overall quality of execution, increase process efficiencies, and reduce cycle time and cost.
Facilitate rapid improvement events and Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) in areas of need.
Train/Mentor individuals for Lean/Six Sigma Yellow, Green, and Black Belt certifications.
Develop capabilities of site personnel in deployment and use of Lean, Six Sigma, RCPS, FPx and JJOS.
Support the development and deployment of site cascade.
Lead Performance Management recommended practices for the site.
Work with area owners to develop and maintain site and functional area performance dashboards.
Operational Metrics
Drive focus and organizational alignment and understanding around the franchise and operations strategic imperatives
In conjunction with the Site/functional staff and change management teams, translate these strategic imperatives into specific projects, measures, and timelines that will drive execution. Create and maintain the Site/function Strategic Imperative Translation, and monthly scorecards.
Responsible for understanding the metrics (system & processes) and communication architecture within the operations community.
Share best practices for introducing, driving and sustaining imperatives across operating locations with other OPEX leaders.
Ensure all measures used for management decisions adhere to “well-dressed” standards.
Portfolio Management
Lead and execute projects and programs defined on the roadmap, as well as to manage the Cost Optimization Process and Governance.
Responsible for maintaining the site project portfolio, drive the measurement of projects that fit our commitments in meeting business plan and ensure progress to the sites strategic plan, and communicate all goals and deliverables in terms of defined measures.
Deliver on financial cost reduction plans and commitments.
Responsible for ensuring projects are developed that “add up” to achieving the goals.
Accountable with sponsors for development of business case, measure, problem definition and timeline for each project in the aggregate project plan for the site.
Chair of the CIP governance process and hold sponsors/project leaders accountable to timeliness and deliverables.
Responsible for quantitative project result verification as well as verifying control plan implementation to maintain the projects improvement for all projects completed.
Act as a positive change agent to ensure engagement and alignment by all associates.
Maintain clear sponsor, stakeholder and team members communication and alignment.
Requirements
This role requires a diverse Operations (E2E supply chain) background, with demonstrated E2E business acumen, experience in relationship management, business integration and executional excellence. Strong project and program management skills are required.
Other key competencies include:
Must possess at least 6 years of work experience in a similar environment with a pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device company.
A technical background, preferably in engineering or science
Experience in Program Management, strong program management skills, organization, coordination, and action-tracking skills
Relevant experience in E2E Supply Chain.
Experience in the medical device industry with 510k and PMA products.
Ability to drive operational excellence across organizations.
Ability to create a future vision on deliverables and gain support and alignment around the plan to get to those deliverables executed
Experience working in a complex matrix organization and achieving results though leveraging internal and external partners.
Leadership Skills
Demonstrated leadership abilities capable of inspiring teams to Strategic Project execution and operational excellence.
Dynamic and engaging facilitation/training skills
Highly influential and able to sell ideas and approaches

Working knowledge of J&J Flawless Project Execution (FPX) philosophy is required.

Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, PowerPoint, and Project capabilities are required.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) required at a minimum, preferably in an Engineering or Science discipline.
Black Belt certified preferred
Would also benefit from MS in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations Research, Applied Statistics/Mathematics or Quality Engineering is preferred. MBA a plus

Additional Information:
The anticipated base pay for this position is $114,000-$197,800 annually.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
