Job Summary:

The Industrial Power Systems Division has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician II position in Schertz, TX. The purpose of this position is to provide technical manufacturing support to both San Antonio and Schertz facilities related to the production of Caterpillar Diesel Engines.

What you will do:

  • Understand basic GD&T principals and gaging techniques.

  • Provide technical support through data analysis and problem solving.

  • Identify and track key metrics related to assigned department or function.

  • Have a basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) charts.

  • Develop effective manufacturing plans based on specifications.

  • Communicate findings with Operations, Supplier Quality, and Engineering

  • Perform audits to ensure materials, processes, and tools conform to quality standards.

  • Submit and assist with the resolution of continuous improvement activities.

  • Respond to engineering related line calls to support the assembly process.

  • Participate and support Failure mode analysis such as sFMEA and pFMEA activities.

  • Develop and improve work instructions and standard work for the assembly processes.

  • Support both San Antonio and Schertz facilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Self-Starter with an attention to detail

  • Must function well within a multi-functional team environment.

  • Strong verbal and communication skills

  • Experience interpreting engineering prints.

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook experience

  • Self-Starter with attention to detail

Top Candidates will also have:

  • 2-year degree or 3 years of manufacturing experience

  • Experience reading blueprints and reviewing 3D models.

  • Experience with diesel engine assembly processes

  • Experience in leading projects or supervision (direct or indirect)

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

  • $21 an hour starting pay

  • Monday - Friday, 7am-3pm

  • Overtime required
