Job Summary

Under limited supervision uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience, specialized training or certification to serve as a resource for managing a select group of qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, which may include all aspects of plan design, overseeing day to day administration, Trust Accounting, participant notices, plan documents, and mentoring junior staff. Continuously gains knowledge of the financial industry and market through on-going education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor junior analysts

  • Manage a select group of Defined Contribution Retirement Plans

  • Responsible for all aspects of plan design

  • Oversee day to day administration, annual compliance testing, Form 5500 preparation, trust accounting, participant notices and plan documents

  • Client relationship management ensuring high quality deliverables

  • Perform project tasks independently, and direct the efforts of others

  • Anticipate client needs and formulate solutions to client issues

  • Prepare and review deliverables for accuracy and quality

  • Plan and lead client meetings with Relationship Manger in attendance

  • Provide coaching to junior staff

  • Manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experiences

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Excellent problem solving including an ability to independently research and determine strategies to solve client needs

  • Experience fostering client relationships

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office and established databases

  • Knowledge of the Relius or Omni recordkeeping systems preferred

  • Experience with rate group testing

Skill in

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Strong ability to foster client relationships

  • Strong Excel skills

Ability to

  • Able to perform compliance testing, discuss plan design, prepare annual reports and complete DOL and IRS forms

  • Able to prioritize, work independently and drive tasks to completion

  • Ability to lead project teams and function with multiple tasks and deadlines concurrently

  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferable in Mathematics or Business Administration; and

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in the retirement field including consulting with clients

Licenses/Certifications

  • QKA or QPA designation
