When you Join Team Caterpillar as a Quality Supervisor you will have the opportunity to work with a team of direct reports to drive timely feedback for both internal and external quality issues. Utilizing established quality system outlined by Caterpillar’s Quality Management System and the Caterpillar Production System you will help meet and exceed customer expectations by leading a team that performs inspection of ready to ship product. In addition, you will help drive internal improvements based on findings by collaborating with all cross functional organizations in the facility while acting as the Voice of the Customer and providing insight and guidance around customer expectations, problem solving, and standard processes.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance to the organizations Quality Management Systems Certification’s and requirements.

  • Maintain and publish defect reports and dimensional analysis at all levels of the value stream.

  • Develops and monitors daily data analysis and process capability analysis.

  • Responsible for development and data collection for inspection reports.

  • Supervises or manages a work unit of employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work is required.

  • Responsible for all personnel issues and evaluation of team performance.

  • Responsible for driving and maintain PQVC initiatives that impact the team as well as the department.

  • Responsible for verifying that quality is being maintained throughout the manufacturing process, both internally and externally.

  • Works with manufacturing operations to identify high defect and rework issues, initiates investigations and validation of subsequent improvements.

  • Responsible for the Incoming Validations of Product for dimensional verification, quality of product and accuracy of Suppler Processes. And development of charts to monitor the related results.

  • Analyses, maintains, and creates Product/Part verification checks to prevent outflow of defects.

  • Responsible for maintaining strong internal and external customer relations by evaluating issues and finding process that protect them from those issues.

  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring individuals at all levels in problem solving and standard processes as a subject matter expert.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of Leadership or Supervisory experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of Quality Assurance / Inspection related experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment or similar experience.

  • Requires a broad knowledge of manufacturing and assembly procedures (machining, heat treat, assembly, and inspection) planning processes, work standards relative to manufacturing and inspection.

  • Extensive knowledge of PLEX and/or Shop Floor Manufacturing Systems/Processes.

  • Understanding of Statistical Quality Control data and Gauging Specifications.

  • Good interpersonal skills are essential to develop a cooperative working relationship with others, both inside and outside the organization.

  • Understanding of blueprints, GD&T, Tolerances and Measurement System Analysis.

  • Working knowledge of Gauging / Lab Tools and Equipment. Fundamental understanding of Measurement Systems.

  • Good analysis, diagnostic and judgment skills.

  • Excellent computer and data analytics skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • College Degree in a technical field.

  • ASQ or similar Quality Certifications.

  • SixSigma Black Belt or similar Certifications.

  • Experience with Six Sigma, Shainin, 8D, TPS, FMEA and problem solving techniques.

  • 3+ years of experience in Engine Assembly operations.

  • 5+ years of quality assurance related experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment.

  • Direct Programming Knowledge of CMM and Measurement Systems.

  • Experience with core manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, forging, molding and assembly.

  • Advanced computer skills in office and shop floor control software.

  • Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
