Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) is responsible for design, manufacture, marketing, and sales of industrial engines for both Cat and Perkins brands product engines. Our global facilities enable us to support our customers wherever they are located in the world.
As a Sales Account Manager , you will be responsible for developing and executing account strategies to promote customer value and ensure that customer expectations are exceeded and sales objectives achieved.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Establish strong relationships across the OEM with key business decision makers and influencers. Identify and understand primary engine component decisions and remove barriers to sale. The Account Manager will leverage various business groups within IPSD to grow our share of wallet.
The Direct Sales Account Manager will act as a consultant to various departments within Caterpillar/IPSD regarding the direction and strategies for the OEMs. Travel to the customer sites to monitor and resolve issues regarding customer satisfaction and product requirements. Develop product support and other types of program planning to meet customers’ requirements.
The Account Manager makes regular site visits to OEM IPSD factory locations, foreign and domestic, to promote the IPSD value equation. At this level, the incumbent ensures that OEM account decision makers have been fully exposed to the features and benefits available from IPSD diesel engine products. The candidate must communicate effectively internally across product, industry, distributor/dealer and a variety of customer audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations.
Champion customer management activities, including but not limited to providing customer forecast and demand, developing pricing strategies, working with many IPSD systems, working with engineering division to identify optimal engine solutions, work to manage inventory and logistic controls and responsibility of credit management (including receivables).
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, manufacturing or engineering
7-10 years marketing/sales experience in related field, dealer, industry or distribution assignments
Strong ability to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences.
Excellent communication skills to develop collaborative/cooperative work relationships with others inside and outside of the organization.
The candidate will have the ability to work independently with considerable freedom of actions in support of business plans, SMART goals and objectives. The candidate must be a proven team player.
Proactive personality with a positive “Can Do” attitude

Engines or Engineering background or experience

This position is located in Seguin, TX and offers a flexible work environment
50% travel is required
