Weyerhaeuser Harvest Manager in Sheridan, Arkansas

Weyerhaeuser’s Southern Timberlands division is seeking a dynamic Harvest Manager to join our North Louisiana Arkansas Region. Reporting directly to the Crossett Wood Flow Manager, this role is based in Sheridan, AR, and offers an exciting opportunity for those passionate about forestry and fieldwork.

Fieldwork Focus: Engage in hands-on planning and overseeing of harvesting operations, ensuring sustainable and efficient timberland management. This role is crucial in supporting the success of Wood Flow, Marketing, Silviculture, Planning, and Geographic Leaders in achieving their annual plans and objectives.

Key Functions:

  • Administer contracts and implement harvesting and transportation strategies to meet planned volumes and market commitments.
  • Verify harvest plans on-site.
  • Negotiate harvesting contracts.
  • Supervise harvest operations.
  • Ensure contractor safety compliance.
  • Merchandize and optimize product utilization.
  • Maintain timely system updates.
  • Monitor contract performance.
  • Ensure quality in thinning operations.
  • Enforce environmental compliance.
  • Address contract noncompliance and performance issues.
  • Manage logging road maintenance activities.

  • A bachelor's degree in forestry or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Preferred:A degree coupled with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Commitment to and the ability to exemplify and promote a safe work environment
  • Fundamental negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in determining and applying conversion factors between alternate scales and weights
  • Understanding of quality specifications for raw materials across customer markets and how log characteristics impact delivered raw material and standing timber values
  • Ability to leverage cost, volume, quality, and other supplier data for performance evaluation
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, labor, and transportation laws and regulations pertaining to harvesting operations
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to thrive in a self-motivated, self-directed work environment where effective time management is crucial
  • Familiarity with total system concepts and demonstrated competence in collaborating across business and organizational boundaries
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel, along with various other computer software and applications
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and adeptness in safely operating a vehicle
  • Ability to safely navigate active harvesting sites, which typically involves maneuvering on uneven terrain and being in close proximity to heavy operational equipment What We Offer

Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $56,547 - $84,820 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.* *
