The Electric Rope Shovels Value Chain Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire value chain process for two key products: electric rope shovels and draglines for Original Equipment and aftermarket. The Value Chain Engineering Manager ensures that all stages from product development to customer delivery are efficient, cost-effective and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals (including quality, velocity, cost) and Operating Profit after Capital Charge (OPACC). This role requires a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, process optimization and cross-functional collaboration (logistics, operations, product and process engineering, product support and lifecycle management) to identify opportunities for improvement.
What you will do:
Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for value chain engineering teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders.
Designing and implementing the end-to-end value chain for a product with a keen focus on inventory, assurance of supply, market differentiation, cost and quality.
Managing the product group Operating Profit after Capital Charge improvement agenda.
Managing the long-term sourcing matrix and source council governance
Managing high-impact, long duration value chain engineering continuous improvement. initiatives and projects; ensuring achievement of engineering plan and product quality and cost.
Measure, monitor and govern engineering changes/release including participation in.
Managing risk and recovery related to foreseeable and unforeseeable value chain disruptions.
Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum, or related quantitative field.
What skills you will have:
Business Acumen: Experience preparing investment proposals, business cases, understand product and operations P&L, and business plans. Previous leadership experience
Process Management: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and systems and strong end-to-end supply base understanding, including customers and dealers. Extensive project leadership experience.
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Ability to leverage enterprise matrix to achieve results, specific focus on Sourcing (RISM).
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Ability to ramp up quickly within a new environment.
Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.
Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.
Industrial Engineering - MFG : Knowledge of industrial engineering processes, techniques and methods; ability to design and implement various processes and support infrastructures that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
Top Candidates Will Have:
Understanding ERP systems’ lead time elements (supply chain, manufacturing, and marketing).
Understanding product cost rollups and partial value stream costs.
Additional Information:
The primary location for this position is Milwaukee, WI.
Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Summary Pay Range:
$156,000.00 - $234,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
