Key Responsibilities:
Identifies and brings forward clinical-stage external opportunities with a focus on compounds with clinical proof of concept to strengthen and expand the Cardiopulmonary TA portfolio
Works closely with Business Development (BD) and Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO) to evaluate the competitive landscape, identify opportunities in core areas and adjacencies and lead due diligence teams
Thanks to robust drug discovery/development and disease areas expertise, drives deep scientific evaluation of potentially transformational opportunities, working closely with functional partners, and provides scientific go-no-go recommendations for governance review
Directs research and pharmacology plans including internal and external activities to fully assess the potential of external opportunities
Informs BD and GCSO teams activities supporting deals progression
Qualifications
Education:
- A minimum of a PhD or a MD is required
Experience and Skills:
Required:
A minimum 3 years experience beyond Sr Principal Scientist OR at least 10 years of drug discovery and development experience in the cardio metabolic space is required
Strong scientific background and domain area knowledge, with track record of directing complex research programs in a Pharma and/or Biotech setting, leveraging both internal and external capabilities is required
Knowledge of Cardiopulmonary areas, unmet need, and basis for strategic positioning of external assets is required
Up to date in depth knowledge of external landscape, emerging science, and disruptive approaches/modalities is required
Established track record of success in running projects to go-no-go decisions and meaningful contribution to portfolio (e.g. key milestones) is required
Demonstrated ability as cross-functional leader is required
Strong record of external publications and presentations is required
Outstanding written and oral communication skills is required
Preferred:
Cardiovascular, Metabolism, or Pulmonary experience is preferred
Pharma and Biotech experience is preferred
