The Opportunity

This position works out of our St. Paul, MN location in the Abbott Vascular Division .

Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.

What You’ll Work On

  • Own the discovery and development of key breakthrough solutions in support of future products.

  • Work with current and emerging technologies to develop a technology map for long term company success.

  • Develop hardware and software solutions and the relevant specifications/verification/validation documentation for products and test systems.

  • Confirm system and component capabilities by designing test methods, testing properties, documenting results.

  • Interface with test labs to support product conformance to medical device safety and EMC standards (IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2) as well as other applicable standards (e.g. radio transmitter, battery safety).

  • Prepare reports/documentation to communicate results to various stakeholders, including upper management.

  • Work cooperatively with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and Manufacturing.

  • Work with external suppliers and manufacturers to create, test, and support approval of new systems.

  • Support technical aspects of product development, verification and validation.

  • Provide technical mentoring of junior level team members in areas of expertise.

  • Interface and build long term relationships with physicians/customers/suppliers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/electronic engineering or related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • 10 years of relevant experience

  • Medical device experience or other highly regulated industry

  • Knowledge of EMC standards (IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2)

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
