Note: This position will follow our hybrid work model, we expect the selected candidate to be in the office 10-12 days per month at the St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office location or Denver, CO

Job Summary:

The Lead Data Engineer works as part of the Enterprise Data Team and will be responsible for developing Data Integration solutions in support of a critical data platform. The Senior Data Engineer plays a key role in the journey of Raymond James to develop a leading Wealth Management Platform. This position will have extensive contact with multiple application development teams and other shared services teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Builds scalable and reliable Data Integration solutions which are flexible, scalable and elastic.

  • Develops low latency Data Integration solutions to provision data near real time for multiple consumers.

  • Collaborates with Data Engineers, Data Architects and Service developers to build optimal and efficient ETL and Database code.

  • Produces dynamic, data driven solutions to support the strategic business goals.

  • Focus on designing, building, and launching efficient and reliable data infrastructure to scale and compute to meet business objectives.

  • Works on and contributes to a projects successful completion as defined by predetermined project success criteria including those established by the business, capital expenditure and budget requirements.

  • Acts as an Application Support specialist for critical production applications and optimizes the batch flow to meet the defined SLA’s.

  • Produces dynamic, data driven solutions to support the strategic business goals.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong experience developing data engineering pipelines using spark.

  • Strong AWS development experience using S3, SNS, SQS, MWAA (Airflow) Glue, DMS and EMR.

  • Strong knowledge of one or more programing languages Python/Java/Scala (ideally Python)

  • Strong experience with ETL Tools; ODI experience is as plus.

  • Strong experience with Database Platforms: Oracle, AWS Redshift

  • Strong experience in SQL tuning, tuning ETL solutions, physical optimization of databases.

  • Very familiar with SRE concepts which includes evaluating and implementing monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, Data Dog, CloudWatch and other job, log or dashboard concepts for customer support and application health checks.

  • Ability to collaborate with our business partners to understand and implement their requirements.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build consensus across teams.

  • Strong critical thinking and ability to think out-of-the box.

  • Self-motivated and able to perform under pressure.

Education/Previous Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or related degree and five (5) years of relevant experience or a combination of education, training and experience approved by HR.

Licenses/Certifications

  • AWS certified (preferred)
