Job Description

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to prepare SEC filings and other financial analysis reports, to analyze SEC reporting related issues and disclosure requirements, and work with auditors. Limited guidance is provided to perform varied, complex accounting functions. Evaluation, originality and ingenuity are required to locate, select and apply appropriate procedures, processes and techniques to specific assignments. Resolves or recommends solutions to complex problems. Regular contact with senior management and other internal customers is required to identify, research, and resolve accounting and SEC reporting issues and problems. Facilitates the establishment and update of SEC reporting policies and procedures. Acts as a consultant to internal groups on complex SEC reporting matters, and performs research on SEC reporting issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses financial reporting accounting software to prepare SEC filings (Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, Proxy and Form 8-K, including XBRL) including management discussion and analysis, description of business, financial statements including footnotes and supporting schedules. .

  • Prepares reports of financial information for management.

  • Prepares external reporting for SEC related disclosures.

  • Supports the Investor Relations team in the preparation of investor presentations and information for the Board of Directors.

  • Researches and makes recommendations to resolve unusual or irregular transactions.

  • Responds to internal/external auditor request and inquiries and coordinates with internal and external auditors on accounting issues.

  • Researches issues regarding SEC disclosures of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

  • Follow new and emerging SEC reporting accounting guidance, as well as evaluate potential impacts on reporting.

  • Support and facilitate implementation of SEC reporting disclosures

  • Identifies and recommends process improvements to increase efficiency in processing or analyzing financial information.

  • Facilitate implementation of changes to the financial statements and SEC Filings, as required.

  • Provide additional ad-hoc support across financial reporting and performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Assists with implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of systems and tools used to support SEC filings and internal reporting.

Knowledge of

  • SEC reporting, including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K, Proxy and XBRL

  • Advanced accounting concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Accrual based accounting practices.

  • Accounting software packages.

  • Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Skill in

  • Reviewing, interpreting and analyzing financial statements.

  • Researching U.S. GAAP & SEC reporting disclosure requirements.

  • Preparing financial statements and management reports.

  • Analyzing and proposing solutions to unusual transactions.

  • Promoting effective coordination within financial reporting and with and other functional areas.

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets and complex databases.

  • Make independent decisions and solve more complex accounting problems.

Education/Previous Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in accounting or finance and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in preparing and analyzing financial information;

  • OR

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred
