Job Summary
Sustainable Investing consultants support financial advisors with education and resources to help them meet their clients’ sustainability, impact, faith- and values-based investment goals. They use judgment obtained through education and experience to consult with financial advisors and their clients regarding sustainable investment offerings, work closely with our Sustainable Investing Advisory Council and leadership across all business segments, and with support, lead cross-functional projects to enhance the capabilities of the sustainability platform. Curiosity and critical thinking are key to success in the role, as consultants monitor ever-changing developments in the ESG space and provide recommendations to leadership that will help guide the firm’s sustainable investing strategy. We are looking for an investment-interested and self-motivated person to join this team in providing indispensable service to our financial advisors and their clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Train with the Head of Sustainable Investing and multiple investment product areas to build knowledge of the Raymond James sustainable platform and services. Build and maintain relationships with financial advisors and guide them through the decision process of integrating sustainable investing into their practices with the purpose of increasing client retention, business growth, and asset discovery.
Serve as an educational and technical resource to help advisors navigate the complexities of working with clients who may be interested in sustainable investing, particularly wealth inheritors and philanthropic-minded individuals.
Research, analyze, prepare, and present sustainable investment strategies for advisors and their clients utilizing firm tools.
Opportunity to present at advisor and client home office visits, collaboratively developing the agenda to address the advisor or client’s sustainable investing needs and effectively communicating capabilities.
Develop Sustainable Investing Advisory Council meeting agendas, advisor conference presentations, home office capabilities sessions, and educational webinars.
Manage firm-wide projects, with support, to assess needs and subsequently assist in building essential investment offerings, technology tools/impact reporting, and product research capabilities.
Contribute to building strategy and communication resources, including thought leadership and sustainable investing content for the firm’s annual corporate responsibility report.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of
Sustainability and/or wealth management industries.
Core principles of investments
Best practices in project management.
Skill in
Excellent problem-solving skills to identify advisor and client needs through effective questioning and listening.
The aptitude to manage projects moving in different directions and to embrace a broad spectrum of disciplines throughout the day.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with advisors and convey key themes orally and in writing.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) with a concentration, training, or work experience in ESG, impact investing, sustainability, finance, or a related field a plus.
5 years of relevant experience
OR
Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
Licenses/Certifications
Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Socially Responsible Investment Consultant (CSRIC) designations preferred, or other combination of designations and experience approved by the hiring manager.
FINRA Series 7, insurance or other applicable licenses or certifications are beneficial for overall knowledge of the financial services industry.
