Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world s largest defense contractors, is hiring a detailed, highly organized Instructional Design Lead - Training Specialist to develop, coordinate, and deliver training materials to our team across P&S. As a member of the team, you will join a diverse group of driven professionals who design the products and systems that support enhanced military capabilities, protect national security, and keep critical information and infrastructure secure.

As an Instructional Design Lead, you will:

  • Manage the instructional development process by project, from needs analysis / concept to implementation and measurement, including creating / updating templates, processes, curriculum and course design, writing / development, and editing.

  • Edit and develop online learning materials including, storyboards, scripting, microlearning materials, etc.

  • Review existing training materials, presentations, and modules for updating, better use of language, conversational tones, and use of adult learning instructional practices for optimized training.

  • Develop presentations, lesson plans, instructor-led facilitator guides, participate guides, rubrics, and other learning tools to support instructor-led classes.

  • Create learning experiences, scenario-based experiences, and environments using adult learning methodologies, theories, and learning science to incorporate into training materials and courses.

  • Create and edit storyboards, scripting, facilitator guides, participant guides, rubrics, and assessments.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop course content.

  • Lead the curriculum mapping and blueprinting exercises for the development of the storyboards virtually and in-person when necessary.

  • Develop storyboards and scripting documentation for the support of video development or online learning.

  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of instructional content through assessments, participant feedback, and making iterative improvements as needed.

  • Proactively share insights, propose improvements, and advocate for best practices in instructional design during meetings, shareholder discussions, and project reviews.

  • Partner with business area stakeholders, subject matter experts, training team members, vendors, and third-party agencies for the development of content.

  • Maintain and maintenance all instructional design / development records, revisions, and updates per our document retention policies.

  • Conduct train-the-trainer sessions virtually or in-person to disseminate training content to subject matter experts as needed.

  • Participate in weekly team meetings, kick off meetings, status meetings, and business reviews to provide project updates.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Psychology, or Instructional Design preferred and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

  • Experience designing / developing instructor-led and eLearning training materials including storyboarding, assessments, and scenario-based learning experiences

  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and SCORM/xAPI standards

  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and learning science

  • Knowledge of eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Rise, Vyond, Camtasia)

  • Proven experience collaborating with project team members and various departments to produce learning solutions and provide project status updates with the ability to communicate orally and in written format

  • Ability to express technical information in written and verbal formats that are comprehensible to a wide audience

  • Proven ability to provide, present, and explain work samples during the interview process/meetings

  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Approaches challenges with a positive mindset allowing for a what s working and how can we learn from this attitude

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Master s Degree

  • Certification in CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development) or Kirkpatrick Evaluation

  • Experience with gamification and learning technologies

  • Knowledge of data-driven learning analytics and ROI measurement

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $116419 - $197912

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
