BAE Systems Lead Architect in Sterling, Virginia
BAE Systems is seeking candidates to support a multi-year prime contract for a federal agency to provide comprehensive operations, maintenance, deployment, enhancement, and integration support. The program mission is to control the access of vehicles and cargo through critical entry points into controlled areas within the continental United States. This system involves the use of License Plate Reader (LPR), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and Biometric systems.
Reports to the program System Engineer and is part of the independent organizational architecture team. Provides technical leadership for the design and enhancement of a large-scale complex access control system consisting primarily of COTS solutions. Oversee the design and implementation of integrated technical solutions utilizing the capabilities of related technology domains. Maintains an awareness of the future direction of all related technologies, and assesses how to employ new functionality. Defines system-level application architecture that includes high-level design, architectural policies and principles, design and programming guidelines, implementation risks and mitigation measures, software development and integration strategies, software configuration controls, etc. Highlights requirement gaps, disproportional construction efforts, technical challenges and any other system operational and performance issues. Engages with the government and program stakeholders to explain the rationale of architecture s selection, or other technical issues. Focuses on the automation of IT corrective actions for network edge devices to minimize onsite maintenance support actions. Identifies and promotes technical innovation across all aspects of solution design and implementation.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
12 Years with BS or 10 years with MS
Demonstrated deep technical mastery and business knowledge across technology domains
Strategic thinking and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to combine broad technical, business, clinical, and political factors
Broad background implementing different architectures to meet differing needs
Strong written and verbal communications skills and possesses good presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to direct the implementation of diverse technologies in a complex organization
Demonstrated experiences innovating within the state of the art
