Job Description:

As a Relief/Trainer, you will be responsible for training and educating all hourly and temporary employees. This position will rotate between a classroom environment and hands-on training on the manufacturing floor. This position will also fill in open workstations on the line as needed to cover planned and unplanned absenteeism. This position will work the schedule based on the assigned line/work areas, up to ten hours a day with occasional overtime. The Relief/Trainer position(s) are permanent positions and will be assigned to specific production areas based on business needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that company expectations and core values are instilled in the employees they are training

  • Conduct classroom, basic skills and shop floor training on an ongoing basis.

  • Conduct periodic assessments of employees’ work performance and adherence to following standard work

  • Train employees by providing feedback and working with area supervisor to improve skills

  • Advocate the Company Ethics and Values

  • Ensure adherence of the Company policies, procedures and standard work instructions

  • Responsible for compliance with all regulations. Compliance with employee safety policies and procedures

  • Recommend improvements and consistently striving for efficient and effective methodologies

  • Foster an environment of teamwork through effective safety issues, including reporting near misses

  • Assist in ACE and quality related actives; have a solid knowledge of quality expectations

  • Responsible for understanding all key manufacturing processes and identifying issues for escalation that impact the line performance

  • Escalate employee disciplinary issues to the Area Supervisor or Unit Manager

  • Provide re-training for experienced employees as needed

  • Relieve and fill-in for material handler employees as required

  • Maintain training log and cross-training matrix for area assigned

  • Conduct daily cycle counts and bin audits as requested by the inventory specialist

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Must have 1 year material handling experience at Carlyle Compressors

  • Strong knowledge of documentation and shop rules (REQ, 5S, SOE’s, etc.)

  • Exceptional communication skills required. Must be able to explain the “why” and “how” for shop practices and basic skills

  • Ability to follow production schedule and pick product based on a sequence schedule.

  • Strong desire to teach, prior training experience preferred

  • Must possess the desire and ability to learn new skills, i.e. ergonomics, ACE, visual work instructions

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule, i.e. overtime and Saturday production

  • Must have the ability to bend, stoop, stand, and kneel. This position also involves routine lifting of items that typically weigh up to 35 pounds, weight may exceed that value for intermittent periods*

  • Ability to use all material handling equipment and hand tools such as reach truck, sit down fork lift, pallet jack, Intuitive ERP system and hand held scanners

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
