Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift (Sulphur, OK)


The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving the service and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. Examples of the types of machinery that the candidate must be able to evaluate and repair include CNC Lathe and Mills.Maintenance and repair of production machinery and supporting systems. Building maintenance and repair including but not limited to plumbing, electrical (high and low voltage), carpentry and fabrication.Extensive on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the technician training program. The maintenance technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Maintenance Technician will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair failed production machinery and supporting systems (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) with minimal downtime and high accuracy.

  • Work closely with maintenance supervisor and other employees to ensure assigned jobs are completed thoroughly and correctly.

  • Visual inspect and repair, if necessary, building structures and systems.

  • Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.

  • Orders and returns parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner.

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance service according to factory guidelines.

  • Demonstrates proper use of service information systems.

  • Works as helper in field service with experienced Technician as required.

  • Works independently in the field as required.

  • Requires general knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components.

  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds from floor to chest. The employee must have the ability to reach and use the arms within a full range of motion in order to retrieve stocked parts. The employee must have the ability to endure prolonged stooping, kneeling, crouching and squatting while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to exert push/pull forces with the arms in order to use various wrenches and tools. The employee must be able to endure prolonged forward and overhead arm positions while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to use the hands to grasp hand tools and parts. The employee must have the ability to climb onto and operate equipment.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Must have 3 years maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.

  • Technicians are required to have prior training in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and plumbing systems.

  • A minimum of one (1) year work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education is required.

  • Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings, disassemble, repair and reassemble mechanical systems according to drawings. Understand hydraulic and pneumatic plans to troubleshoot and repair those systems. Able to read and understand electrical schematics to troubleshoot and repair. Have basic fabrication, carpentry and plumbing skills.

  • Experience using personal computers, and basic typing skills are required. Candidates must possess the ability to quickly acquire the following required

  • Written communication skills

  • Intermediate engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic and repair skills

  • Area specific technical training

  • OSHA & MSHA required training

  • Compliance Training

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions related to all aspects of their duties.

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for themselves and all other employees.

  • Follow all procedures and policies set by management.
