Northrop Grumman Principal Project Management/ Sr. Principal Project Management in Sunnyvale, California

The Columbia Dreadnought Production Program office is seeking a Project Manager to support the Program Manager in all aspects of running a production contract. The ideal candidate demonstrates a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. You have the ability to collaborate within and across teams to accomplish goals. You are committed to ethics, integrity, and innovation while challenging traditional ways of doing business. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and you are comfortable engaging with the internal and external customers. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be responsible for contractual requirements to ensure on time delivery

  • Coordinate customer meetings (conference room, visitor requests, agenda planning, action items, meeting minutes, etc)

  • Prepare, submit and track letters to customer

  • Identifying / managing issues and risks in a timely manner

  • Supporting internal and external meetings and IPTs

  • Support proposal development by gathering and organizing data and preparing cost estimates and rationale

  • Works directly with functional organizations for project activities

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.


Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or Senior Principal level. You must meet the following minimal basic qualifications in order to be considered:

Principal Project Mgmt:

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience or a Master's and 4 year of project management experience.

Senior Principal Project Mgmt:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience or a Master's and 8 years of project management experience.

Candidates for either level must also have:

  • The ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong commitment, collaborative approach, and demonstrated strategic big picture thinking

  • Experience in project management

  • Demonstrated sound decision making and good judgments

  • Strong and effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and individually

  • Proficient with MS Office applications

  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Navy marine systems development, military, and/or related Defense systems

  • Experience with DoD Technical Documentation

  • Proficient with SAP application

  • Experience in Earned Value Management System Metrics

  • Current/active DoD Secret clearance or higher
