We are looking for an Agile Champion to join the American Express Technology Delivery Enablement Organization. In this role, you will be responsible for working in partnership with Engineering and Product Management teams to manage execution and delivery of software to market. This role uses agile methodology values, principles, and practices to plan, manage deliver solutions; while gaining insights and fostering continuous improvement in the teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and Leads Teams:

  • Facilitates Agile events and ceremonies that help the Engineering team deliver value incrementally and iteratively; embeds Agile ways of working.

  • Drives the team's contribution throughout the Program Increment (PI) through coaching and facilitating team level events.

  • Supports the team in achieving the PI objectives and improves the team’s long-term performance via coaching and encouraging continuous improvement in ways of working.

  • Supports and coaches Product Owners through all agile ceremonies and fosters continuous delivery of business value to end users.

  • Raises and provides visibility around gaps, impediments, risks, and dependencies.

  • Ensures impediments are visible and tracked through to resolution, escalating when necessary.

  • Fosters practices for identifying, tracking, and resolving cross-team dependencies within the team.

  • Monitors progress and impact over time by tracking, identifying, and improving delivery effectiveness metrics while increasing agile maturity.

  • Technical Skills

  • Understand the team’s technical platforms and applications.

  • Understand Technology Industry Trends

  • Leadership and Coaching

  • Coach leaders, teams, and Product Owners in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.

  • Live the Agile and SAFe Core Values and Principles.

  • Champion a learning culture to drive continuous improvements and standardization.

  • Respectfully and purposefully challenge the status quo.

  • Inspire collaboration and quality practices between system architects, Agile teams, and product teams.

  • Promote compliance with SDLC standards across the team

  • Ensure data integrity and compliance for the team within the Agile Management tools.

  • Influence without authority through effective change and leadership management.

  • Be a champion of the agile mindset.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred.

  • 5 years of Scrum Master/Agile Champion experience, Program/Project Manager, and/or 5 years relevant Technical Program Management experience required. Compliance portfolio experience preferred.

  • Experience facilitating Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams to deliver solutions.

  • Current/active PMP-ACP certification required; SSM certification a plus.

  • Additional Agile certifications a plus.

  • Ability to influence and gain alignment at all levels of the organization including senior leadership.

  • Drive continuous improvement through transformational leadership.

  • Ability to drive value delivery and agile maturity across the teams

  • Build high trust and creditability across the organization through deep domain knowledge of the business.

  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.

  • Industry and Company Knowledge.

  • Show skill in Agile/Lean/SAFe Principles and Frameworks quality and testing best practices.


Salary Range: $103,000.00 to $170,000.00 annually bonus benefits
