The U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering, AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance and data management. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.

American Express is on a multi-year journey to continue our focus on Enterprise Data Management (EDM). As part of the journey, we are seeking a Program Manager to lead the Program Management efforts within Technology.  The role sits within the Technology organization, and will be responsible for ensuring the EDM project scope, roadmap, deliverables, and resources are well defined, that risk is identified and mitigated, and change impact is addressed across workstreams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner closely within Technology and Product teams to establish a 3-year plan and roadmap, with emphasis and urgency on year one milestones.

  • Collaborate and engage with a diverse set of partners (Technology, Product, Federated Data Offices, Privacy, Risk, and others) to spearhead the EDM workstreams

  • Track progress against key Technology workstream milestones and risks, including creation of presentation views for executive review.

  • Facilitate communication between project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Lead Tech discussions on project plans to ensure alignments across teams

  • Communicate scope change, resourcing, and financial implications to senior management in a clear and timely manner.

  • Help manage a budget within Technology space across multiple teams. Familiar with both colleague and contractor / vendor resourcing budgeting

  • Establish and maintain data governance principles, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Drive Development and implementation of data lifecycle management processes, including data acquisition, storage, processing, archiving, and disposal.

  • Proactively identify gaps in project plans and educate the team on finding closure.

  • Takes ownership and accountability of the program and is a “self-starter”

  • Maintain positive demeanor and “can do” attitude, all while having fun!

Qualification Requirements:

  • Proven experience in program management: attention to detail along with ability to keep the big picture in perspective, both proactive and adaptable, ready, and willing to handle challenges.

  • Preferred experience in data management, data governance, or data lifecycle management programs.

  • Track-record of driving thought-provoking strategic roadmaps – from vision to detailed execution

  • Navigating through uncertainty and overcoming obstacles - demonstrate resilience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Outstanding executive communication and partner management skills. Ability to create decks and materials to communicate at senior levels concisely, clearly, and consistently.

  • Preferred: familiarity with industry-standard data management tools and technologies.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple demands successfully within a matrixed organization.

  • Team player comfortable working collaboratively to resolve challenges in a demanding environment.

  • 4 years of experience with significant project management experience required.

  • Consulting experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related field.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
