We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Staff Engineer to join the Global Servicing Technology team at American Express. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving technological innovation, architecting scalable solutions, and providing leadership to a team of highly skilled engineers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing and implementing ground breaking systems, a passion for emerging technologies, and a commitment to driving excellence in a fast-paced, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
Provide strategic technical leadership to the Global Servicing Technology team, influencing the direction of technology solutions and ensuring alignment with business goals.
Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Innovation and Technology Roadmap
Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define and implement a technology roadmap that supports the evolution of Global Servicing capabilities.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, integrating relevant innovations into the organization's technical strategy.
System Architecture and Design
Own the design and architecture of sophisticated, scalable, and reliable systems that meet business requirements and performance objectives.
Ensure that solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture standards and principles.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
Optimally communicate technical concepts to non-technical collaborators and develop collaboration across teams and departments.
Quality Assurance and Best Practices
Drive engineering excellence by promoting best practices in coding standards, code reviews, testing methodologies, and deployment processes.
Implement and champion DevOps practices to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the development and deployment lifecycle.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience as a technical leader or Staff engineer in a large-scale, global organization.
Strong expertise in system architecture, design patterns, and software development best practices.
Proficient in multiple programming languages and technologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
Experience in the financial services industry.
Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, and cloud-native architectures.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Qualifications
Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually bonus benefits
