The Enterprise Data Solutions and Engineering (EDSE), a Pfizer Digital organization, is responsible for the development and management of all data solutions across the enterprise - from global product development, to manufacturing, to commercial, to point of patient care across over 100+ countries. One of the team's top priorities is the development of data solutions and products which will serve as the engine for the company's digital transformation to bring innovative therapeutics to patients.

As a senior member of EDSE's Commercial and Real World Data (RWD) team, the Global Commercial & RWD Data Management Product Lead is a transformative, collaborative, visionary, and inspirational leader with deep expertise, a passion for coaching, leading and inspiring cross functional teams to solve for tomorrow's business challenges thru the use of data to create solutions that will provide Pfizer with competitive advantages. It is expected that the Global Commercial & RWD Data Management Product Lead will work with business units and digital leadership at the Vice President level and below to develop best-in-class data management, integration, and engineering products that advance Pfizer's relentless pursuit of scientific breakthroughs and revolutionary medicines that will create a healthier world for everyone. This role will be accountable for defining and developing the data architecture and data solutions for a large and diverse set of data solution products, including but not limiting to data lakes, data warehouses, data marts, and virtualized data. Lead a global data engineering team to develop reliable data pipelines to ingest, consume, integrate, and analyze large amounts of data from various sources including and not limiting to Commercial Operations Data, Digital Marketing, Medical Operations Data, Observational Data, EHRs, Claims, and etc..

This role will provide the vision and guide a seasoned global engineering team to architect, design, and create roadmap for commercial and RWD systems, focusing on unlocking the data to the broader Pfizer organization that allow the business to apply, consume and analyze the data to achieve both strategic and operational objectives. This position is a global role with globally located team members reporting into this role as well teams that will matrix and collaborate with this role.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, EDSE Commercial and Real World Data Lead, this role will be accountable for leading a engineering team for delivering data solutions and data products globally.

  • Strategically Partner with Vice Presidents, Sr. Directors and Directors of Business, Analytics and Digital to develop a data product strategy and roadmap for the Commercial business and Real-World Data analytics organizations.

  • Influence and provide advisory to senior business leaders and business unit heads on the application of data to accelerate and optimize on the business outcomes and patient care.

  • Establish data product at scale and high quality which will allow our partners to generate insights and evidence from data, to support our business, patients, clinicians, payers, regulators, governments, and the industry in understanding disease, treatments, and outcomes.

  • Represent Pfizer as a trusted partner and subject matter expert on various external local, regional, and global federated/open data network communities.

  • Create a product-centric approach, expanding the data products, currently with a yearly spend of over $25M+.

  • Lead a team of tech leads and solution specialists, provide technical leadership and coaching

  • Design and maintain highly scalable data models and data management processes that are following industry standards like FHIR, OMOP, CDISC, and etc where applicable.

  • Directly responsible for cross-team collaboration initiatives that ensure EDSE and its partners are leveraging data technologies and data products to the fullest.

  • Lead data design standardization, normalization, anomaly detection and cleansing framework, derived variable generation using known best practices to manage Commercial, Real World clinical and claims data within the security, regulatory, privacy (eg: HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, PIPL, etc.)

  • Accountable for engineering development of both internal and external facing data solutions (over hundreds of external data interfaces) and data quality framework by conforming to EDSE and Digital technology standards.

  • Partner with internal / external partners to design, build and deliver best in class data products globally to improve the quality of our customer analytics and insights and the growth of the use of Real-World Data in its role in helping patients.

  • Accountable for system architecture, code quality and structure, testing, and rationalization of technical debt.

  • Lead the growth and development of hierarchal teams of directors, senior managers, managers, and associates.

  • Establish a culture of high performance, transparency, and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate outstanding collaboration and operational excellence.


Professional Experience and Educational Requirements

  • 15+ years of strong multi-discipline experience, with a preference for experience in technology strategy and management, management consulting and product engineering.

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree strongly preferred, with preference for advanced degree holders with a focus in strategy Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent project-related experience.

  • 15+ years of related work experience as an established strategic thinker anchored in data and analytics with business acumen and a proven track record of successfully delivering projects and outcomes.

  • Applied functional knowledge of Biopharmaceutical (globally) sales and marketing processes including but not limited to sales force automation, omnichannel marketing, patient marketing, co-promotion, sales operations, etc...

  • Broad understanding and application of all types of Biopharmaceutical data in service of operations, advanced statistical, predictive modeling, and RWE generation

  • Broad understanding and application of data in service of machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised learning, deep neural network, transfer learning) in biomedical research and/or healthcare settings

  • Experiences in several managing large and complex products and programs over $15M+ in budget concurrently. Knowledge of drug development and commercialization

  • Experiences in digital product ownership, including ownership roles such as roadmap, evangelism, development, and lifecycle.

  • Experience with the RWD data life cycle in support of the use in real-world evidence and outcomes studies (planning, generation, and dissemination)

  • Must have strong technical skills, ideally from a hands-on engineering / IT background and ability to leverage this experience to define and deliver projects in an agile environment leading to faster, better and cost-effective outcomes.

  • Must be willing to wear many hats and demonstrate cross-functional end-to-end leadership; from strategic thinking and project planning, to solution architecture, development and deployment to resource allocation.

  • Knowledgeable of cloud based architectures, cloud data products / solutions, and agile methodologies to enable rapid cycles of development and release of data products / solutions (AWS suite of services, Azure, GCP, Snowflake etc.)

  • Must show the ability to interact and influence all level of a large digital organization.

  • Exceptional verbal, written communication and organizational skills, along with interpersonal skills that allow for collaboration across a diverse group of people.
