United States Steel FP&A Analyst III in Texas

This is an analyst position reporting to the U. S. Steel Tubular Products Director of Plant Financial Planning & Analysis. This is a highly visible and challenging position working with all levels within the enterprise. The position requires a highly-motivated self-starter who is extremely analytical and has excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple teams within the enterprise. The teams will depend on the FP&A Analyst to partner with plant leadership at Fairfield Tubular Operations, Tubular Headquarters FP&A, and other areas to drive value throughout the organization. This position is critical to providing analytical support related to U. S. Steel Tubular Product's strategy, critical business priorities, and the achievement of sustainable profitability and economic profit.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive accountability and value-creating action through robust variance analysis, leveraging deep understanding of the manufacturing process and business drivers for area of responsibility

  • Support annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, and monthly updates

  • Improve EBITDA performance by evaluating any cost or margin opportunities with cross-functional teams

  • Drive cost improvements leveraging Moving Down the Cost Curve (MDCC) initiatives as the finance business partner to operations and other support functions at the plant

  • Scrutinize improvement project results and serve as key point of contact for project benefit results and forecasting

  • Drive FP&A, Accounting, and Operations process improvements that result in standardization, efficiencies, and effectiveness

  • Develop business cases and financial support for capital appropriations and large-scale investments

  • Support the development and presentation of analysis to support plant and/or executive leadership that includes proactive and insightful analysis and commentary on enterprise results

  • Assist, facilitate, and/or collaborate with Tubular and North American Flat roll FP&A and accounting closing and for forecasts

  • Administer the project tracking system and reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Ability to clearly and consistently communicate sensitive, complex or difficult information using simple terms and an appropriate style for the audience.

  • 3-5 years of financial analysis in a large corporate environment preferred.

  • Ability to contribute to high performing teams, take action to pursue opportunities, address issues, or solve problems through collaboration.

  • Ability to translate ideas into tangible action plans to help achieve critical business priorities.

  • Ability to confront tough issues in a creative manner and leverage well-developed team relationships to assess and resolve issues.

  • Desire to learn and implement successful cross functional team projects.

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, HFM, and Oracle.

  • High attention to detail and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team.

  • Strong communication, writing, interpersonal, organizational skills and ability to interact with all levels of management.
