What You'll Work On

As the Plant Occupational Health Nurse , you’ll have the chance to administer occupational health activities for Abbott employees while applying in depth knowledge of clinical occupational health nursing. You will utilize knowledge of regulations impacting the work site, current legislation, environmental safety and workforce health issues, and use this to provide an individualized plan of care for a range of routine to complex occupational health assignments. This role serves as an expert in health promotion and disease prevention, and works in partnership with appropriate people consistent with corporate culture, business objectives and the needs of employee and community populations. Functions as a resource to the EHS staff.

  • Administers the procedures of the occupational andenvironmental healthand safety program consistent with the company's general policies concerninghealth services.

  • Assesses the health needs of employees and employee populations

  • Performs all required medical surveillance activities

  • Assesses and treats work related illness and injuries

  • Functions as a subject matter expert oncase managementperformed including Worker’s Compensation without lost time, work related and personal restrictions, referrals

  • Applies detailed knowledge of regulations impacting work site and employee population to best address employee and workforcehealth issues

  • Stays current on legislation and regulations that impact this environment

  • Learns about employee populationdemographicsand identifies key areas for education and intervention. Implements timely, thorough programs and services that address these needs

  • Dialogues with the employees to identify a suitable plan for intervention and/or resumed work activity. Encourages employee to engage in the appropriate intervention and follow-up. Tracks progress and provides continued support

  • Supports and evaluatesclinical proceduresand practice guidelines

  • Develops and provides opportunities for in-service education/staff developmentand continuing professional education

  • Provides leadership, direction and technical counsel to members of theOccupational Healthteam (i.e. safety, industrial hygiene, bio-safety)

  • Collaborates with upper management to apply the common tools for managing the project scope, cost, schedule and resources

  • Participate in strategic planning process,case managementcourses, and budgetary and operating expense processes

  • Independently resolves issues, elevating only the most complex situations to theEHSManager, and GOHS as needed. Knowledge must address diverse and difficult problems or situations

  • Serves as an occupational andenvironmental healthand safety expert to the corporation, community, and other outside groups

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Shift

This is a salaried, day shift position working Monday through Friday. Flexibility in hours and schedule, as well as being on-call, is needed to support 24/7 operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) inNursing

  • Registered Professional Nurse with current state license to practice

  • Minimum 5 years ofOccupational Healthand or professionalnursingexperience

  • BLS/CPR certification

  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Detailed knowledge of Worker’s Compensation regulations

  • Detailed knowledge ofOSHAand other federal regulations that govern the workplace

  • BLS/CPR certification

  • Physical Assessmentskills

  • CAOHC Certificationpreferred.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong written skills

  • Proficient computer-based skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification inOccupational Health Nursing(COHN-S)

  • Certification inCase Management

The base pay for this position is $60,000.00 – $120,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
