First Line Leader

Our Operations team is essential to delivering the innovative and life-saving products we make for our customers. DuPont is seeking a First Line Leader for the Towanda Plant site, located in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The DuPont Towanda Plant is a highly-leveraged film coating facility in the Electronics and Industrial business which is a part of the DuPont Specialty Products Division. The purpose of the role is to provide operational leadership for assigned areas of responsibility for core values, reliability, responsiveness, agility, cost, asset management and morale. DuPont places a high level of emphasis on core values. These core values include safety and health, environmental stewardship, respect for people and highest ethical behavior.

Overview: This position provides direct line leadership to core value performance and continuous improvement for production and manufacturing support areas; interfaces with business leadership and supply chain for coordination of schedules to meet internal and external customer needs; executes against set fixed and variable cost objectives for areas of responsibility; drives expectations for adherence to policies, procedures and safety standards; drives employee empowerment and accountability; and ensures performance goals are met.

This is a day shift role.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Embraces and role models DuPont Core Values

  • Plans shift activities and resources to optimize performance in line with production goals. Builds an understanding of the team's contribution to the shift/site/business goals.

  • Communicates shift performance (safety, production, quality, maintenance, etc.) goals, metrics, and outcomes to team members. Effectively communicate and implement site directions and messages to team ensuring the work alignment is clear.

  • Operates with Excellence by engaging team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, 5S, eliminate waste, remove barriers, and build a sense of ownership and pride.

  • Responsible for coaching, training, and holding all shifts and fellow First Line Leaders accountable for safety, behavior, performance, and quality. Coaches, develops, and provides performance feedback to team members to build capabilities, align on expectations and improve team effectiveness. Addresses personnel issues on shift effectively.

  • Ensures employees comply with established Standard Operating Procedures

  • Partners with leaders to stay informed of the business strategy and needs to deliver short and long terms goals.

  • Organizes and manages staffing levels to ensure adequate support for daily, weekly, monthly production needs. Hires, retains, and develops talent to meet current and future capabilities when required; Promotes a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.

  • Clearly documents and completes all administrative requirements timely and efficiently.

  • Ensures all operations and maintenance work is completed per published schedule. Facilitates team processes including equipment problem solving, basic troubleshooting and issue resolution.

  • Leads or participates in EHS & Quality investigations and determines appropriate corrective action.

  • Monitors and adjusts the controllable costs for shift (i.e., overtime, operating supplies)

  • Completes Leader Standard Work practices, including frequent line walks.

  • Initiates recognition for individuals and/or teams and supports the celebrations efforts area’s accomplishments.

  • Able to provide coverage on weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as scheduled, on a regular basis; Able to work overtime as needed.

  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of Line Supervisory experience in a Process Safety Management environment

  • Lean Manufacturing Operations experience

  • Process and personal safety experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite

  • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred
