The Product Procurement Engineer leads the design of the optimized Product Supply Network by integrating Hydraulic Mining Shovel (HMS) Product Group value chain strategies, engineered designs, and targets for Response Time, Availability, and Total Cost of Supply and leveraging Resource Industry Supply management (RISM) partner capabilities in transportation, packaging, and inventory management. Focuses on leading the Total Cost of Supply analysis and Supply Network Modeling to ensure the engineered value chain achieves those targets.

What you will do:

Major Role: To design the optimized Product Supply Network in collaboration with the Product Group and other necessary process partners through the Total Cost of Supply process. They lead the Total Cost of Supply analyses and network design and improvement projects, ensure Plan for Every Part (PFEP) reflects the engineered value chain (EVC), and participate as a team member in part design manufacturability reviews, supplier selection, APQP, and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

Reporting directly to the Category Procurement Manager, this role will undertake specific Product Purchasing responsibility and accountability. It will support the implementation of Product Group strategies while collaborating to align the Category management supply strategies that will create a competitive advantage for our customers by developing, optimizing, and integrating a world-class supply network. Strategy - Through a strong knowledge of the product, NPI, Advance Part Quality Planning (APQP), manufacturing processes, supplier capabilities and Category Strategies the incumbent will sponsor, support, and participate in both product and GSND initiatives. Drive supply network collaboration for developing new products (NPI), and/or enhancing Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) efforts, and/or creating valued new services by leveraging their leading technologies and business knowledge. The successful candidate will also manage and resolve systemic supplier quality concerns as well as review and co-approve supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.

Customers - Manage Product expectations for Global Supply Network, to deliver benefits required to sustain a competitive advantage. The role will require a good communicator capable of keeping the Product Group and Global Supply Network fully informed of progress and working closely with both to ensure all requirements are met. This role will interface with the local Product Management, various engineering groups, the production facility, Supply Chain, and Change Management teams to ensure alignment of strategies and manage expectations.

What Skills you will have:

  • Supply Chain Management: Quality experience with Built-In Quality (BIQ), APQP, and PPAP. Mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge, knowledge of manufacturing processes, previous purchasing / procurement and cost modeling experience.

  • Data-driven Decision Making: Knowledge of the data-driven decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to gather and analyze data to make organizational decisions that align with strategic business objectives and goals.

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Ability to draw facts and data from multiple sources and form reliable conclusions based upon critical analysis.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Knowledge of the principles and tools used in cost-benefit analysis; ability to analyze the purpose and scope of a producer, product, process, or project in terms of cost and benefits.

  • Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

  • Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.

Top Candidates will also have:

Working knowledge of SAP systems.

Working knowledge of LogNet system.

Experience with PROCURE and Power BI systems.

Prior design or engineering experience.

The primary location for this position is Tucson, AZ.
