Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Engineer - Design at its facility located at 875 W Cushing Street, Tucson, AZ 85745.

Job Duties: Direct and participate in the concept and design of complex engineering product or process projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Represent the journey level position within design engineering. Contribute to the planning and delivery of projects. Accountable for contributing to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes. Perform complex analysis work, identify design problems, and resolve problems with a focus on technical delivery. Work directly with different units, suppliers, customers, and/or other teams. Communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner. Make decisions that may affect project teams and its delivery of projects and significantly impact negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, costs, sales, and customer perception. Utilize analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts. Meet goals for cost, reliability, and performance, and manage multiple priorities. Keep up to date on changing customer needs as projects progress, stay current with new technology, and provide guidance and direction on projects to less experienced engineers, technologists, and technicians. Bear significant responsibility for completion of projects with major focus on delivery. Design and promote new components and sub processes; perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new products or processes; perform product maintenance; keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers. Manage development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. Develop key skills including: failure prediction and management, technology time/cost analysis, spatial design, conceptual design, practical application of theory, knowledge of the NPI process, and communication skills.

REQS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering field and 9 Years of experience as a design engineer or related occupation. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering field and 6 Years of experience as a design engineer or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) 5 years of experience with electrical and sheet metal 3D modeling using CREO; (2) 5 years of experience with Teamcenter, Vismockup, EDS, and PRWB; and (3) Experience with Caterpillar Large Mining Trucks, Caterpillar Drills, Guide, Fleet, Aux, and Terrain. Travel: 10% domestic. Telecommuting: 3 days/week.

Summary Pay Range:

$130,749.00 - $165,840.00
