As a Strategy Manager, you will be part of the Mining Center of Excellence (MCOE) - Customer Solutions team. You will lead the definition, development, refinement, and execution of key business strategies to deliver exceptional MCOE Customer Solutions value to regions, product groups, and dealers, supporting mining customers at their sites and contributing to overall Resource Industries (RI) growth goals

What you will do:

• Finding areas of collaboration within the customer's solutions team as it engages together, with the regions, Resource Sales, Services and Technology (RISST) support teams, Resource Industry Operations and Products (RIOP) teams, and with broader Caterpillar groups (Distribution & Service Division, Cat Finance, Cat Digital, etc.)

• Leading and Executing of Key projects that may arise within the group and participation as needed in broader MCOE / RISST / RIOP initiatives – including message development and materials prep for deep dives, Mining Dealer Council meetings, etc.

• Focusing on the Physical Availability of Mining Equipment in assisting the regions and product groups in collecting, summarizing, and prioritizing key down drivers related to product quality and reliability and parts planning and parts availability.

• Championing the adoption and execution of Digital Performance Plus by key dealers from around the world, expanding over time from Physical Availability to other key metrics and downtime drivers.

• Developing a global Product Support plan and growing a longer-term presence within the MCOE to support processes and tools used by the tech rep community in the field.

• Owning the MCOE Customer Solutions Metrics – from coordinating annual target setting to ownership the working metrics file to facilitating the monthly reporting in the Customer Solutions scorecard to the x-matrix.

• Providing Customer Solutions leadership to the continuing evolution, improvement and execution of Dealer Excellence for Mining and annual Pay for Excellence methodology and measures.

• Coordinating the Customer Solutions annual budgeting process, monthly budget reviews, and regular budget update submissions.

• Mentoring/coaching Customer Solutions team members as we grow the capabilities of the team.

What skills you will have:

Strategic Thinking: An ability to take current issues and challenges at the site, most often related to machine performance, identify longer-term solutions, and then build a plan in the short, medium, and long term to get delivered. Requires mining experience in the field.

Effective Communications: Superior communication skills – both written and verbal. Ability to provide regular effective updates to regions, dealers, and RI Leadership and a keen attention to detail and the ability to adapt the message to the audience in all situations.

Relationship Management: Maintaining credibility in the regions with dealers and customer and in the broader Cat organization through strong interaction and excellent follow-thru on commitments and communication. Requires dealer-facing experience. Product support experience preferred.

Customer Focus: An understanding of Customer needs, perspectives, and pain points at the site and a consistent evaluation of the impact our decisions and performance have on the customer experience. Site performance, mining equipment manager (MEM), and product support experience preferred.

Problem Solving & Execution – The discipline to methodically lead a team through problem-solving methodologies from problem statement to root cause to solutions to execution to ownership. 6 Sigma, Lean, Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) experience preferred.

Data Gathering & Analysis - Knowledge of Cat and dealer systems and processes to find and accurately interpret complex data, how to move forward in situations where data is not useful, and how to identify and implement new data sources.

Critical Thinking & Decision Making – An ability to think through positives and negatives (risks) in all solutions ideas, gain concurrence, and methodically decide in a fact-based way the best solution.

Process Implementation/Execution – Leadership and Change management are required for gaining acceptance, planning, and implementing new processes, tools, etc. in the regions, with dealers, and/or with product groups. And taking or assigning the associated long-term ownership.

Additional Information:

This position requires the candidate to work full-time in the Tucson, AZ, or Peoria, IL office.

This position may require 25 % travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$156,000.00 - $234,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
