Project Overview:

Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup for the Mammoth South, Central I and Central II project for a 376MW DC each (Total of 1.1GW DC) solar plant in Pulaski County, Indiana.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision)

  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff within the area of responsibility

  • Develops Construction execution plans and methods

  • Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.

  • Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, training programs,

  • Prepares craft Requisitions, implements and enforces jobsite work rules, responsible for craft terminations and layoffs based on project requirements

  • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.

Planning / Productivity

  • Lead the preparation and implementation of the 3-week look-ahead and four-week rolling schedule and budget control with support from Field Engineering and Project Controls.

  • Develops projections for workforce, material, and equipment requirements

  • Ensures installed quantities and quality verifications are reported using GIS software and Smart Completions

  • Ensures productivity is within required budgets

  • Coordinates established area operational plans including interfaces with other discipline superintendents and field engineers

Tools, Materials & Equipment

  • Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables, and ensures that the crafts have the tools and equipment they require to be productive.

  • Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.

Safety & Quality

  • Coordinates safety training and enforces safe work behaviors and practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) personnel.

  • Inspect buildings and area for unsafe conditions, behaviors and practices and take appropriate corrective action to mitigate and eliminate.

  • Enforces safe work behaviors and practices.

  • Provides leadership for implementation of environmental, safety, health (ES&H), injury/accident and fire prevention programs

  • Ensures the most current design documents are used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.

  • Ensure the applicable design document for electrical commodities such as PV panels, above or below ground DC cable management system, DC cable, and terminations are provided to direct hire craft personnel to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.

Technical

  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Vendor Technical Advisors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in supervisory functions relating to construction field activities (Discipline Specific)

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Accident safety program

  • Must have experience in and capable of planning and implementing (Discipline Specific) Safe work practices as well as appropriate construction means and methods

  • Ensure that Bechtel Core processes and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility
