In September 2015, we were awarded a 50-year contract to own, operate, renew, and replace the water and wastewater systems serving Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The systems serve over 800 facilities over 99,000 acres. The water system includes four wells, five pumping stations, 15 tanks, and over 750,000 linear feet of distribution pipe.The wastewater collection system consists of 15 sewer lift stations, over 650 manholes, and nearly 200,000 linear feet of sewer main. Job Details Base Salary Range: $68,640 - $114,660 The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. American Water is also proud to offer employees learning opportunities and work experiences to grow professionally! _ Primary Role_ * Responsible for all activities involving the operations and maintenance of the water/wastewater distribution and collections system. * Supervisory responsibilities for employees. * Develops processes for daily staff work functions, oversees use of operational and maintenance information. * Leads implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs through coordination with the EH&S Manager. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Ensure safe and reliable operations of utility systems. * Assist installations to maintain compliance to environmental and safety regulations. * Develop and maintain operational support manuals and processes. * Accountable for achieving state, federal and local standards for water and wastewater regulatory requirements. * Supervises the maintenance of work records and preventative maintenance records and prepares various reports utilizing the computerized maintenance management system. * Schedules, coordinates and provides field supervision of staff involved in operational and maintenance activities of water/wastewater distribution and collections system. * Provide for the training of assigned personnel in work methods, use of tools and equipment, and safety practices. * Orders materials and supplies for routine operations, and preventative and emergency maintenance. * Maintains records and prepares reports. * Assist in the development of departmental standard operating procedures and emergency response plans and procedures. * Performs other related functions as assigned. * Conducts performance evaluations of assigned subordinate personnel. * Participates in hiring, and disciplinary actions of assigned subordinate personnel in accordance with company policies. * Implement and foster the coaching and development of employees, including idea generation, within respective functional areas. * Follows Company Environmental, Health and Safety Policies, and reports unsafe conditions to supervision immediately. _ Experience/Education_ * BA/BS preferred or relevant equivalent experience in the water industry. * Water industry continuous education coursework. * Minimum of 6 years of experience in water distribution / water treatment field. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Able to perform routine maintenance and servicing standardized water / wastewater process control, monitoring, and compliance sampling and testing. * Able to prepare and maintain accurate paperwork such as records, logs, orders, surveys and routine reports as directed. * Able to communicate effectively will all levels of the organization. * Computer literate;
