Primary Function

Coordinates general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules. Provides financial support to division management including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget. Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts and financial statements and reports. Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll and budgeting duties.

  • Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, and procurement activities for two manufacturing facilities.

  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management and accounting.

  • Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity report, financial position forecasts and annual budgets.

  • Analyze the financial details of past, present and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.

  • Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, polices and actions.

  • Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting staff, recommending and implementing training, promotions, and other personnel actions.

  • Receive, record and authorize requests for disbursement in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Delegate authority for the receipt , disbursement, banking, protection and custody of funds, securities and financial instruments.

  • Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance.

  • Prepare and file annual tax returns or prepare financial information so that outside accountants can complete tax returns.

  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives and current accounting standards.

  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Role Specific Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

  • 5+ years related work experience

  • 4+ years of supervisory/leadership experience

  • General accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, economic and related principals.

  • Proven experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, and resource allocation

  • Strong sense of judgment, decision making, and complex problem solving.

  • Strong leadership experience in managing the performance of subordinate accounting staff.

  • Strong ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and work in cross-functional teams.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office programs and accounting software

  • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Related Field

Years of Experience

Minimum of 5 years related work experience

4-5 Years of Supervisory/Leadership Experience
