This position can operate remotely with the option to work 1 or 2 days per week from our Perth based office and travel to our mine sites when required.
About This Role
The scope of this role spans all of the Asia Pacific operating and non-operating sites, regional office and projects (Newmont Australia Pty Ltd, Newmont Ventures Limited and Newmont International Holdings Pty Ltd group of entities).
You will be the primary liaison between site teams in coordinating the process of contract reviews and accounting treatment to ensure compliance for lease accounting under USGAAP and IFRS, as well as ensuring accounting treatment decisions are correctly accounted for in both actuals and business plans. This also involves the review of Investment Review Papers submitted to the Investment Management teams to ensure appropriate accounting treatments, in particular for embedded leases and derivatives.
The role will support the Senior Advisor with the process of valuation and assessment of accounting standard changes and interpretation of standards on various business decisions to ensure compliance to Accounting Standards (both USGAAP and IFRS). You will provide support to the Financial Accounting Manager in technical accounting research, and development of appropriate accounting treatment and processes. This role assists in the process of completing externally audited IFRS financial statements, monthly consolidated financial analysis as well as quarterly external reporting.
The role will assist the Senior Advisor on special projects, ad-hoc requests, and problem-solving activities.
About You
Degree qualifications in Accounting, Business or Commerce and CA or CPA qualified
Substantial relevant accounting and financial reporting experience as well as significant mining experience
Team focused with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members from all levels of the organisation
Be able to self-manage across a number of competing objectives
Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as attention to detail
Highly developed spreadsheet skills
Experience with complex accounting systems (e.g. SAP and BPC)
