About this role

What will you be responsible for?

Under the direction of the Senior Tax Director, this incumbent will be the key role in delivering the Company’s global transfer pricing program and global tax transparency in reporting. In addition, the role is responsible for identifying and owning the development and execution of Tax data analytical work. This incumbent serves as the key point of contact with Newmont’s regional Tax Departments and third-party vendors in the preparation the delivery of the Transfer Pricing reports. We assist internal and external departments with the execution of Newmont’s global tax transparency reports. Moreover, this person supports and develops roadmaps for Tax innovation, technology, and methodologies globally. We advance data analytics as a fundamental component of the global Tax approach to increase efficiency across the department. We assist with development of the global innovation program by leading future initiatives related to an agile Tax Department.

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

Global Transfer Pricing responsibilities:

  • We work with finance/accounting teams to ensure that transfer pricing policies are fully understood and robustly applied, through review and implementation of joint processes.

  • We reconcile the group’s transfer pricing methods and help to support the ongoing maintenance and implementation of the Company’s various recharge mechanisms and other intra-group transactions.

  • We proactively bring to the attention to tax leadership any deficit in policies and their associated risks and opportunities for tax benefits.

  • We own the annual delivery of transfer pricing local files that align with local requirements. This involves:

  • We craft and maintaining a central project plan and documents including annual scope; achievement plan and checklist; and contact and partner list.

Partner Engagement:

  • We lead and ensure delivery in accordance with agreed accountabilities:

  • We project reporting to key partners that can help drive the right decisions.

  • We support the Country-by-Country Report (CbCR) workstream and process as required and develop analytics capabilities for this workstream.

  • We maintain strong professional relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders.

Global Transparency responsibilities

  • We work with global personnel as well as various functions throughout Newmont on implementing, maintaining, and updating procedures regarding payments or transfers of value to governments and ensures compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.

  • We lead data collection, auditing transparency records, assessing gaps in internal processes, identifying and driving process improvements and training of personnel in the functional areas that create reportable payments.

  • We assist with the training of various partners to help them understand transparency requirements.

  • We assist SE&R with the creation of the annual sustainability report and ensure accurate, timely, and complete data is included in this external filing

Data Analytics and Innovation responsibilities:

  • We drive efficiencies in the Tax Department by aligning data management and technology.

  • We collaborate with partners to understand operational processes and assist in making processes more effective through redesign/re-engineering.

  • We translate business challenges into opportunities working with technology departments to execute solutions aligned to company objectives.

  • We devise own methods to accomplish objectives while aligning with global Newmont policies and standards.

  • We understand and communicate technical solutions to non-technical partners.

  • We conduct training on existing and newly developed methodologies and solutions for the global Tax team.

  • We provide support to the global Tax team in the use of analytics tools and other technology.

  • We perform data analytics using data preparation, analysis and visualization tools and advanced analytics techniques to support Tax projects.

  • We develop and support internal technology systems and applications for use by all Tax departments. This includes developing programs and applications that cater to the Tax department’s strategic technology needs.

  • We perform special assignments as requested

Your training, skills & experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Business, or bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Data science, Statistics or related field.

  • Ability to supervise interns and lead small projects.

  • Role is outstanding and calls upon multiple subject areas. Knowledge of transfer pricing rules and global transparency requirements a plus but not a requirement

  • Familiarity with SAP and BPC preferred


  • Minimum 4 years of relevant Subchapter C tax experience in public accounting or

  • 6 years with a multinational corporation working in finance or

  • 4 years of experience in a data analytic or data science role.

  • Experience with working within and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Exposure to the various global transparency programs is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Validated verbal and written communication skills.

  • Continuous value in learning and have a passion to learn new skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Team-player and motivated.

  • Validated ability to optimally utilize Microsoft Word and Excel applications.

  • Experience with Robotic Process Automation technologies (e.g.: Blue Prism, UI Path, etc.) a plus

  • The position is in the Denver corporate office.

  • Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites.
