Primary Function

As the Embedded Electronics Hardware Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing embedded electronics hardware solutions for our diverse range of products. You will have extensive experience in power supply design and proficiency in using Altium, along with a deep understanding of UL standards, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and design for reliability principles. With a strong foundation in electronics engineering, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality and reliability of our electronic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware Design: Lead the design and development of embedded electronics hardware for our products, including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and BOM creation.

  • Power Supply Design: Design and optimize power supply circuits to meet the specific requirements of each project, ensuring efficiency, stability, and safety.

  • Altium Proficiency: Utilize Altium Designer software to create and maintain schematics and PCB layouts, ensuring the highest quality designs.

  • Compliance with UL Standards: Ensure that all hardware designs comply with relevant UL standards, certifications, and safety regulations.

  • FMEA Implementation: Conduct and participate in FMEA activities to identify potential failure modes, assess their effects, and implement appropriate design mitigations.

  • Design for Reliability: Apply design for reliability principles to enhance product longevity and minimize maintenance requirements.

  • Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and perform thorough testing and validation of hardware designs, diagnosing and resolving any issues that arise.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of hardware designs, including schematics, PCB layouts, design decisions, and test results.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in embedded electronics hardware engineering, and contribute ideas for process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in embedded electronics hardware design.

  • Proficiency in Altium Designer software for schematic capture and PCB layout.

  • Strong knowledge of power supply design principles and experience with power management ICs.

  • Familiarity with UL standards and the ability to design for compliance.

  • Experience with FMEA and risk assessment methodologies.

  • Proven track record of designing for reliability in embedded systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications or memberships related to electronics engineering.

  • Experience with high-speed digital circuit design.

  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations.

  • Familiarity with design tools such as SPICE simulation software.
