The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Global Industrial Hygiene Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Developing, managing, and training on the global Industrial Hygiene Standards, metrics, databases, and programs to drive continuous improvement and global optimization and standardization
Leading the application of key program and appropriate tools by effectively providing tactical, technical support of comprehensive exposure assessment and implementation at 3M sites globally
Supporting product exposure assessments for businesses and industrial hygiene elements of life cycle management and sustainability programs
Influencing or leading systems and processes to proactively address human exposure issues, drive compliance achievement, and reduce overall Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) footprint through engineering design and control projects
Developing the professional competency of the global industrial hygiene network through communication and training, sharing of knowledge and best practices, and coordinating improvement efforts
Leading and participating on internal EHS audits
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
Proficient years of experience working in an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene and/or Safety role in a private, public, government, or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master’s degree, or higher, in Industrial Hygiene, Safety or EHS related discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Five (5) or more years of experience working in an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene and/or Safety role in a private, public, government, or military environment
Certified Industrial Hygienist® (CIH®) by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing® (BGC®) or Certified Safety Professional® (CSP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or working towards these certifications.
Experience in the design and implementation of comprehensive risk assessment strategies, tools, and systems
Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Regulatory and/or Legal experience related to risk assessment and compliance (private, public, government or military)
Strong project management skills and ability to set objectives and deliver results
Strong computer and database skills
Experience with a wide range of exposure risk assessment sampling methods and relevant analytical methods, including real time instrumentation
Engineering control design and implementation experience
Able to lead, influence and inspire others
Strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
Work location:
- Work Your Way Eligible (Employee choice to work remote, on site, or hybrid)
Travel: May include up to 30% domestic/international
