This role is located in our modern Nashville Metro Center office, located just minutes from downtown with easy interstate access and free parking.

Primary Function

The Testing Lead is responsible for build validation and regression testing of A.O. Smith’s application landscape. The landscape consists of SAP, Salesforce, and other internal and third-party applications. In this role you will: consult with application teams on test case development, execution, and coverage; be responsible for test cycle management; defect, and resolution tracking; test process improvement activities; and landscape stability reporting.


  • Support the overall testing approach for the portfolio. This includes defining a test strategy, validating data requirements and planning and managing the environments needed for testing (working with the Production Support & Basis teams).

  • Responsibility for the planning, management and co-ordination of all testing activities within BTS projects and evaluating risk potential during all stages of development.

  • Define, and monitor Testing/QA processes while continually improving the overall software quality and turnaround time for changes.

  • Working closely with the Functional and Technical resources to establish appropriate test scenarios to achieve the design target quality objectives.

  • Collaborate with end users and project teams, including vendors to define the testing strategy. Help to set priorities that balance 'desirable' against 'practical' testing strategies.

  • Liaise with project managers to manage expectations for the testing stages of projects.

  • Ensure that traceability exists between requirements, tests and results for each run and defects and that a suitable process is in place to handle the effect on testing of changes in requirements.

  • Report quality metrics each week as defined by the testing lead.

  • Scope, Plan and Manage testing activities ranging from unit testing, integration to user acceptance testing.

  • Identify and analyze defects for prioritization and routing to appropriate team for resolution.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or other related field or equivalent experience or certification

  • Minimum 7 – 8 years’ experience with 2 years in a Lead or supervisory role

  • Experience in software release management

  • Experience in multiple SDLC methodologies, including WaterFall, Iterative, and Agile

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal/communication skills required

  • Demonstrated expertise in test strategy definition and execution

  • Ability to take complex situations and simplify to aid in change management communication

  • Ability to be open to change; strong listening skills

  • Ability to lead team discussions, solicit input and facilitate decisions in a professional manner

  • Ability to multi-task and organize effectively to meet users' expectations while working as part of a larger team

  • Great organization and time management skills with the desire to complete projects on time

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
