Job Summary

This position is responsible for positioning, promoting and supporting Thrivent life insurance products with a particular emphasis on connecting with distributors and aligning key features and benefits with the sales process, helping our members understand the products they own and how those products meet their needs, and helping Financial professionals support members successfully with their life insurance needs.

This position will work within the Insurance Solutions leadership team to design, launch and promote competitive life insurance products successfully with distribution partners.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide life insurance subject matter expertise to key constituents and stakeholders.

  • Monitors the competitive and regulatory environment and researches, develops, and implements strategies to maintain a competitive life insurance portfolio for our members. This research may result in new product development as well as the elimination of products.

  • Utilize critical thinking skills to design, build out and execute complex and interwoven with other departments marketing initiatives that drive field productivity and membership growth. Leverages extensive experience to drive strategic development that aligns with key corporate strategies and goals; collaborate effectively within the work of cross-organizational sub-teams.

  • Work with Financial representatives and Field-facing colleagues to design, train on, and execute sales materials, support and training. Design of overall strategy and tactical initiatives as well as ensuring thoughtful, timely and successful execution.

  • Develop trusted relationships with key internal/external stakeholders to collaborate and influence across the organization contributing to the development of competitive member life-insurance-related offers that attract target segments, drive membership growth and increase member loyalty.

  • Perform marketing and training communication tasks and initiatives that are clear and comprehensive. Serve as translator of complex products/benefits, features and financial planning and sales process topics to both Financial representative, home office and member audiences.

  • Actively participate in industry life insurance groups and initiatives to understand industry developments and increase the strength and relevance of life insurance products and needs messaging for all consumers.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree, especially in marketing, communications or business. Liberal arts education focused on critical thinking also a plus (will consider commensurate working background under certain circumstances).

  • 5 to 10 years related experience in sales, marketing, product or communications areas with expertise in life insurance.

  • At least 7 years in the financial services industry, with demonstrated increases in responsibility and effectiveness.

  • Significant and demonstrated people or thought leadership experience.

  • Significant experience in communicating complex product solutions to a field distribution system and through the field distribution system to the end client.

  • Applicants must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of life insurance products and industry.

  • Required licenses: Resident state life licenses, Series 7 and 63 and appropriate non-resident state life licenses.

  • Financial services advanced designations preferred (i.e., CLU, CFP, ChFC).

  • Effective knowledge of the distributor sales and advice processes, as well as competitors’ life insurance products and processes.

  • Proven success with direct and indirect leadership functions.

  • Excellent communication skills.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $115,224.00 - $155,891.00 per year OR $55.40 - $74.95 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
